Thanks for the info on the jazz loops brushes question I had guys. I'm going to pick this one up if/when we get the final library :)

Ok so this is off-topic.. I can't get anyone to answer in the SR forum. Has anyone purchased anything from the memorial day sale?? If so did you see it take 25% off of the sale price?

The 25% off (or more in some cases) is already taken off on all of the products listed. After the sale is over they go back up to their regular price. Some are listed "On Sale" in which case membership discounts don't apply. In other cases when it is not listed "On Sale" it CAN actually apply membership discounts but all of that is done automatically.

By the way, I haven't followed every post but I am grateful some of you guys have re-explained some things that I've said about this GB on esoundz with the extras. I will quickly explain something. It started off as just ONE library that contained some unreleased stuff (it wasn't ALL made up of unreleased stuff but the "wild card" was supposed to have some). Then it morphed into a whole slew of things you could select instead. Then the "left over" concept of a product CALLED a "wild card" was lingering and it was my mistake for it to be listed as one of the choices. It isn't one of the choices and as I said the choices are not going to change so go ahead and choose them. Now for the good news... because you all have been so awesome on this group buy and we really appreciate your support at esoundz we are going to give everyone that ordered it on esoundz this phantom 1 gigabyte "Wild Card" library automatically... so that's your 9th (or possibly 10th) library (if it hits 8 for 1... with the multiple choice esoundz library on top AND this which is fixed).

I have been working on it myself all weekend and I will give you all a final listing of what's in it. But I am making it diverse and fun for everyone... and trying to make it have MORE unreleased stuff than even originally planned... and this way I know NONE of you have it! All for a mere $50. Now if you joined twice there is no benefit on this particular extra and it can't be given away to someone else or anything so let's not dig there... joining twice you get to pick another multiple choice library though already. This is an extra on top of an extra (a Squids specialty).

So, if you were thinking about joining or joining a second time and you HAVEN'T joined on esoundz yet then now's your chance - your ONLY chance because this is exclusive - to get this mystery free SampleTank library on top of the "Irwin Fletcher You Choose" (first one to name the movie gets $3 epointz).

Here's the link: http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?Prod ... de=XT2KVR2

There will also be a special coupon code I am going to give all people that join the group buy to be able to get half price on all R.A.W. titles in case you wanted the Rex, Apple Loops and Wave versions (but the coupon will work on ALL of the titles in the series including the artist ones and the new style paks as well). I will post that in a bit. A good time to get a boat load of sounds for less! Hope that helps those on a budget and those that aren't on the budget.... time to load up! Don't forget you can also just get the full R.A.W. Platinum with a wopping $250 off coupon code which is RAWPLAT But that is a different coupon than the one for half off on the individual titles so hang tight and I will get you that.

Looks like the group buy is going to hit 8x1 soon and as I bought into the deal three time over, I get to pick yet 3 more xpansions, craaaaazy!

Omnisynth is the only multi-sample xpansion I don't have yet. Is it a best-of all the others, or it is genuine material?

Post

Squids - what's the story on the ReTank versions of these loops/grooves packages? They're available as bonus options, but they aren't listed for sale individually on the esoundz web site.

Unfortunately, I mistakenly thought the Rare Vintage Collection Vol 1 was your mystery 1 gig set of new, previously unreleased material and selected that instead of one of the ReTank sets (specifically, the Latin Afro-Cuban Grooves set.)

So I started looking into possibly buying the Latin set separately after this group buy is over. But... it isn't listed for sale other than through the ReTank Gold collection.

Does esoundz carry these ReTank style packs individually?

Post

Hey everyone,

Just to echo and underline what torgo posted earlier, the old symphony strings library and the symphony strings 2 are identical, except symphony strings 2 has solo instruments included. So get that one in the IK area!

I just wasted my free esoundz pick...

Post

Very nice Squids :D

Thanks so much for giving us yet another free library of sounds! Man, brand new unreleased sounds... Can't wait!

Oh and the coupon, Sweet! I just might have to get some more latin R.A.W packs!

I started working on an Electronic-Brazilian tune yesterday using the Latin Brazilian R.A.W pack. It's making me want more Brazilian and now Spanish sounds from you!

Flamenco please!!!

A nylon string guitar loop library would be sweet, perhaps incorporating Brazilian type guitar, Flamenco, Gipsy guitar, Gipsy Jazz etc.. with some strumming, finger picking.. I would definitely buy something like this..

Anyway, thanks for all the hard work. I am very grateful that you are allowing all of us to expand our catalog of sounds at such a ridiculously low price.

I'll end up by saying that I love all the stuff you make (Bass, guitars, Drums, synths, etc.. ) and have been using these librairies for years but my very favorite Sonic Reality sounds are the Electric Pianos (such as those that come with Sonik Synth 2). I still get chills playing these, and there are soooooo many that I love..

SampleTank really is a very quick workstation. With a little bit of research/knowledge of the tools used on the original recording and some ingenuity I was able to do a Floydesque take on the "Shine on You" Part I sounds in just a few minutes only using instruments from these Xpansion Tanks with no external processing of any kind (limited myself on purpose).

I used sounds from Vintage Keys, Cinematik, and SampleOB Xpander (and only one from each for the pad, one from SampleOB Xpander for lead). Mind the few seconds of silence at the beginning - I also only took a few minutes to tweak the export Smile

Cognition
The reason the demos you've heard are focusing on unusual effects is because that is (in my opinion) the Cinematic Collection's strong point. You might want to check out Symphonic Strings, which seems to have a bigger emphasis on strings rather than effects. I don't have that one, so can't comment.
Here's something I improvised real quick using the Cinematic Collection strings;
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3049335/Cinematic_strings.mp3

For me this doesn't cut it for strings, and neither does Garritan (for me). I'd recommend East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra, even if you can only afford the Silver Edition. You can always upgrade later. However, this might not be within your budget. (Note: I'm an EWQLSO Gold Plus user, which is in a completely different price class from SampleTank).

For new readers, here is my demo of the aspects of the Cinematic Collection that are more exciting to me personally:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3049335/Jon%20C ... ration.mp3

Edit: It is definitely possible to get better results with the Cinematic Collection strings than my improvisation. I was just improvising for a few min on my MIDI controller using presets (sometimes with a reverb or a delay added)

skylit wrote:I'd very much appreciate it if somebody could post some samples with more traditional symphonic / orchestral sounds.
I tried and succeeded at only picking traditional orchestral sounds only from Cinematik and within a few minutes had a decent combi and multi-out setup to do this small piece. Forgive the crashes in the wrong place and other nits here and there. There's layered strings, brass, and winds with a lame percussion track - all from Cinematik only:

Some of the Beach Boy vocals done up quickly, starts "in the manner of the church" (a capella - I have to try to brush up on the true Italian meanings seeing that our HQ is in Italy) then in a mix then back to a cappella. I've added bass from the Bass tank, organ from the Vintage Keys, and a drum loop from the Vintage Rock loops for the midsection "mix":

Here is a quick jam with several libraries involved:
http://members.dslextreme.com/users/jre ... padjam.mp3
The pad is from Cinematik, layered with some stuff from World music. The hand drum is from World, as is the psaltery. The bowed bass is from Symphony Strings 2. The guitar is my Strat through a non-IK product (sorry). It is just a two-chord ambient sort of thing, and I am no pro, but a lot of people might do this sort of thing with SampleTank.

Here's a dry run on the Hip Hop instrument pack. It's only the tip. You could ride out a career with just this set.
www.4shared.com/audio/mH09rixa/hip_it.html
Someone requested a pop demo using the Hip Hop set because that person wasn't a fan of hip hop. I made an old sounding piece because the Hip Hop sounds are old. Hip Hop likes to recycle. if you're looking for hip hop... btw, which GM set recreates old analogue like that?

androidlove
I filled up all 16 slots for this retro pop piece using the hip hop set. Uses just the effects that loaded with the parents. If you have a cheese allergy, you may want to avoid this.
www.4shared.com/audio/0XYJQ4Tg/hip_pop.html
Whereas the bass break in hip it was garbage, this one is the bomb (please, someone get that).

Thought, I want to share my work with you guys. Maybe it would help people to decide, if they want to join the GB. And also it's a "thank you" for IKMM and SR for it. So they know what people do with their sets Wink
http://swift-assistance.de/joomla/image ... _Dream.mp3
It's done with a few freebies for the electronic-sounds and mastering, the rest is done with these packs of the GB:
  • Cinematik Collection
  • Piano Collection 2
  • Symphony Strings 2
  • World Grooves
Have fun with it, and pm me if you like it. If not, don't say it - I'm a cry-baby! Crying or Very sad HiHi

Here's a little loop I made after I downloaded the Acoustic Drums today:
http://rapidshare.com/files/384715164/J ... emo_01.mp3
I'm using a Kit from Acoustic Drums 2 that I edited to be a bit tighter, keys are from the Piano Collection 2 and a little spice from the Cinematic Collection. Just 3 channels used, bass comes from my Roland Fantom G as I haven't got the Bass xpansion (yet).
Here's a little screen-shot of ST while playing this:

Here's another little demo:
http://rapidshare.com/files/384720448/J ... emo_02.mp3
Just 3 channels, a mandolin patch I created using the World Instruments Collection + Tremble Strings from the Cinematic Collection.
http://img.skitch.com/20100507-nns7313y ... p1tkbe.jpg
I used Toraverb for the big reverb. The built-in ST reverb would probably have done the trick just as well, but I happened to have Toraverb in my Aux so I just used it...

Here's an arp only demo. It's the default sounds. Run it through a chorus and a delay or a flanger and a reverb if it sounds too plain

Definitely need more demos. I did the Vocal Collection one on Youtube.

Baard

To celebrate 7x1 I share what I have been doing with ST the last days. All sounds are from the GB, the title celebrates us reaching 7 at this very moment!

That would be the ARP Prosoloist flute with some pitch modulation. I posted my patch list here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/965632/sampletank.JPG (I never got around to use the congas tho)

Its from the Sampletank XT pack. So is the organ and the flute. The "salsa" piano in the first part of the song is "Upright" from piano collection tho. Really like that one, but it didnt cut through towards the end, so I kept HQ Free Piano there, I wrote with that one. Thats what amazes me with what I got from this deal. You are writing from the second you load a sound and press a key.

I made a short Dark Hip Hop Instrumental demo last night using DeepSouth, World Instruments, World grooves, Cinematik, DownTempo and Vocal Collection. This can give you an idea of the sounds included. I wish I had the time to add more sounds to it, but alas..

SaganTech
Here's a simple piece, Eight for one, I created with one instance of Sampletank and every sound used is from this group buy. It uses 2 sounds from the OB library, 2 Vintage rock grooves, a bass from the bass collection, 3 guitars from the electric guitar collection, and one sound from the vintage keys collection.

curt1lp
I used the first patch in hip hop instruments - electric sweep (2.05) and some beats out of Downtempo Electronica Tempos (2.50)to enhance a basic backing track posted by Scuzzo at the Les Paul forum jamzone

(I also added some Xils3 Le action, Minimogue luxus and Absynth (organ sound) as well as my Strat into Le Poulin Le456 with cab impulses, effects bluetube effects especially the Tempo Delay effect from the audiomidi nobrainer and BooteqMk2, Ferric TDS.)

bhall1968. Thanks! (Fletch and Old School - I'm racking up on the movie trivia.)

FYI - you asked before why I hadn't installed anything yet. I haven't had a chance to finish setting up the studio and building the music computers yet.

Unfortunately, building the computers is a prerequisite to installing stuff on them. But I'm sure I'll love all this stuff once I do get a chance to finish off the studio.

Androidlove, is there any chance you could post the images of the SampleArp and SS2 duplicates, like you did with other packs the day before yesterday? I would love to weed out the dupes. I just had more issues of ID conflicts.
torgo wrote:Electric Guitar Collection 2 vs Sonik Synth 2 = 5 duplicates, 25 meg. Not bad at all.

Bass Collection 2 vs Sonik Synth 2 = 12 duplicates, 34.3 meg. So the bass set has appx 470 meg of new, unduplicated parent samples.
Torgo, if you did some sort of screen capture of these overlaps, I would love to see these details as well.

This is important information! Thanks muchly. :-)

Great development Squidly! Very glad to hear it.

I strongly request that you divide content up into folders if there are some obvious duplicates (especially if child presets have different names from the parents) so that we can easily organize or remove content that we do have already.

Hopefully ST3 will be much better at handling instrument IDs, and parents will actually be able to keep track of their children somehow. In the meantime, it would be good if ANYTHING that you released from now on always has children with similar presets names, AND that any duplicate instruments that you add to libraries be regenerated to have a unique ID number (if you think a user might want to have those duplicate files kept in a specific library folder).

That would be grand. :-)

it's free for 7 days. doesn't look like you have a lot of options for a mac. is your selection of free stuff for a mac always this limited? is apple the main company who sells additional software to you?
