OK, once again we're off! .... time for you to cast your votes for the best 'Texture' only track. :)

See thread... http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... sc&start=0

Please listen to all the tracks before casting a vote ... I know it takes a while, but its the only fair way to do things ... Criteria for your voting decision is up to you, but I ask that you take at least some account of the range, nature, use of the synths sounds in your decisions.

So here's how!

@@Go to the online folder ....
http://onesynthcomp.4shared.com/

Here you can listen to individual tracks, and read accompanying notes re. what what was used in their making. You can download individual tracks as you wish.

Alternatively, from the same link/folder, you can also download the zipped folder '00 - Texture tracks.zip'
This will be a lot quicker than downloading individual tracks, You will then have all the tracks in one place to at your leisure, .... think about it as your free album .... a gift in exchange for making a contribution to the comp!

You can also access the tracks via a playlist here ....

http://www.4shared.com/play/_pBg_o1V/OneSynthComp.html

( **** note **** if you experience difficulty accessing the above files, dont give up, try a different browser ... IE seems to work better than some browsers. )

How to vote .... You can cast a vote for your fave 5 tracks, in allocations of 10, 7, 5, 3, and 1 points.

Please allocate all your votes in a single post in the following format ...

Track xqy - artistname - 10
Track qzy - artistname - 7
Track xyz - artistname - 5
Track yxz - artistname - 3
Track zxy - artistname - 1

Reviews, however brief, are always welcome, but even if you can only find the time to add a short comment, then please do! ...it keeps the thread alive, and encourages others to listen/vote. I will do a review when I can grab a bit of time to do the job justice.

**Closing date for votes will be Mon 21st of June**

....Enjoy the music! :)

Note .... I will tally the votes and post updates as the votes come in.... and I'm sure there will be the usual willingness to correct me if I get anything wrong.

Blender A, Dwsel: This is brilliant!

Blender B, Dwsel: This one is ominous, kind of like underwater monsters or ancient cities under siege.

Drunkdelia, Uiiuiiu: This is baddass. It's pretty good melodically/harmonically; but it's totally awesome in dynamics, pacing, tone ('timbre'), and percussion/rhythm. That kick is phreaking great.

Escape from the Asylum, Mike777: This is some primo chiptune-type of stuff. Yet, it's so much more than that, too. This is really cool. Overall, it conjures images of some harmless 'crazy,' dancing in fields of lavender or blue after midnight.

Flexture, XGmode: This is awesome. I really like that little, high-pitched 'thing' on about the 'and' between beat 4 of measure 2 and beat 1 of measure 3 of each '4 measure rotation.' Overall, it's got that mysterious, detective vibe. This could fit in as part of the soundtrack for a movie.

GetTarnce, Totolitoto: This would be great music at a rave or a club. The percussion sounds are great. Some of the the leads might be overly loud. Otherwise, this is top-notch. There's a lot going on, but it all fits together.

Hyper Kaos, Dawn: This one is more spacey/ambient. It kind of has a circus or funhouse quality about it. The length is perfect, in that it just gets going, and then it stops, leaving the listener ready for more.

MOTION, Mac of BIOnighT: It's sort of got a sedate intro, then it begins whirling and swirling. Moments later; This is bad, man. (i mean, good 'bad'). It's phreaking riffing out like Dr. John or Stevie WOnder or something, while something really mellow threads its way through moment, by moment. As usual, you bring a really unique stamp to this contest.

Nibog Convert, Hivefleet Megalon: It's great how these pieces are all so individual, with the tones of Texture kind of stringing them all together. This is awesome. I'm wondering if the 'megalon' in the title is a play on 'gamalon.' It kind of sounds foreign to me. Maybe it's not 'gamalon,' but it's as though it's sounding from the other side of the globe. Maybe it's kind of "Middle or Near Eastern." Anyway, this is a great entry.

Out of the Blue into Thin Air, Yeager. This kind of reminds me of the theme to Barney Miller or Hill Street Blues. Maybe it's that sort of 'rhodes' tone you've managed to coax out of texture. After that intro, it goes into a sort of 'euro' direction; where it reminds me of sci-fi. The overall progression has a good number of interesting twists and turns. It's also got varying tones ('timbres') galore. Kudos!

The Age of Analog Communication, Mike777: This reminds me of some of the better '80s 'techno.' The part where just the 'bass' is playing, reminds me of songs like 'Send Me an Angel' by Real Life. In the 'main progression,' it almost sounds like there's a temporary tonic in there or somesuch. Whatever that is, it kind gives it a Keith Emerson vibe each time it passes through that part. Overall, it's really engaging. It sounds like 'so many different artists,' but sounds to be all its own as well.

The Allosaurous Problem: Like Blender A, this one barely gets going. It seems a fitting beginning to the 'outro' of the contest (only 2 entries left to listen to for the first time). Anyway, this is wild stuff! Who's to say where it might have gone from there?

Tunguska, V'ger: This one is highly atmospheric. It's got some tones approaching the sound of amplifier feedback. At about the halfway point of the song, after the explosion has detonated, the perpetrators make their escape. Was it Tesla, methane gas, aliens, time travelers; Who knows? What we have is a giant crater and a lot of deforestation in a certain locale about the forests of Siberia; and a mystery.

Uh Oh... Here Comes Trouble, Tattiemannie: This one has got some attitude. It reminds me of droogs on a rampage or somesuch. Maybe it's something even bigger, like a riot mob, or alien invasion. After months of participating in these contests, it seems like a number of the regular contestants each have their own style, and this one definitely fits the 'tattiemannie style.' Kudos! I really like those 'choir pads' or whatever they are that kick in. They sound like singing clouds.

Anyway, this month brings us another awesome collection of entries. Hats off to all of the contestants!
