I have the original Strings Collection. So if I have to choose between Symphony Strings and Omnisynth 2, which is going to give me the coolest solo string instruments? Are the brass instruments in Omnisynth 2 unique to this pack?

Regarding speculation on what is made and not made... if only it were as simple.. the reality is quite different than one might think.

I will say that the idea of loyal new customers buying new upcoming sounds from Sonic Reality, especially from www.esoundz.com is what makes something like this work in the big picture. I always believe you have to give to get. This one was extremely generous and obviously I was the one who had to approve it all since it is Sonic Reality sounds. I thought it'd be a good way to stir things up again in SampleTank-land and that proved to be correct! These sounds span years of development and to put them all together now was not easy and they're not perfect... but I do know the value makes up for any imperfections tenfold... and you can't please everyone but by and large people seemed to be happy so much they've joined more than once just to have everything they thought they might have wanted. Good! We're glad to be a part of that with IK and all of you. I've always said SampleTank is a great workstation "rompler" and it definitely has its place in my set up as a "staple piece". Now it does for so many thousands of others because of its affordability in this (even JUST the full SampleTank engine alone for $50 is actually an incredible deal itself!).

So, what we're working on next for the loop fans are more ReTank titles and we're looking into ways to have it presented as both loop/slices AND menu maps for each one. I'll keep you posted on that. The other exciting thing we have is a special deal on the sounds from Studiophonik which are guitar, bass and drums with some more high end features such as mic mixing or switching pick ups on the guitar in real time etc. This month we're releasing the rest of the Studiophonik sound set which people that participated in a past Studiophonik Prelude Group Buy will actually get for free... and some of that content will also be in this bonus extra extra uber deluxe wild card extra 1GB library that is being put together as we speak and that's a freebie for anyone who bought (or still buys) the XT2 Group Buy from http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?Prod ... de=XT2KVR2

Beyond that... more cool stuff is planned including some official releases with IK too... and maybe eventually some sort of affordable upgrade to SampleTank itself which you can count on Sonic Reality being there with sounds too.

Symphony Strings 2 will have more to offer in solo strings. Omni has its own brass stuff that are unique to itself for SampleTank format for the most part. That said, brass is not one of our strengths per se.

I will remind you again to PLEASE slice up the Retro Drum Grooves.

Oh boy... good news mixed with not-so-good news. :?

Of course I was hoping for the Wild Card to contain as much unique and unreleased content as possible, and not Studiophonik, which I already consider to be content which I purchased and "have", even though I'm still waiting for the rest of it. But it is what it is, and I'm grateful for whatever cool stuff you can provide us with.

But please, please, PLEASE make our job easier by putting all the Studiophonik content included in the Wild Card Bonus into a folder marked "Studiophonik", so that it does not become another investment of time to sort out what we have and don't have when Studiophonik is released. This is especially important, since in Studiophonik I've noticed that you went back to the method of naming children different from their parents.

Thanks. :-)

Squids wrote:The four controls are the macro knobs. They do some cool things. One of them actually goes between it stopping like a tape would vs. looping forever. That's a nice knob! Other knobs simulate tape warble... I forget what else but some nice features added. Shoudn't be THAT hard to find I hope! Glad you like Squids Tron. We'll do Volume 2 this year. I just recently found a bunch of Chamberlin master tapes I bought from someone who worked for Chamberlin and some more Mellotron tapes and recently got my Optigan working again so... we'll put something out in both ST format and also our Infinite Player as well. Also, we're going to release the original Squids Tron for Reason this Summer. If you like Trons you've come to the right place! ;)
Macros do very cool things and they work on my older ST sounds that have macros. But ...Has anyone noticed the macros in the new sounds are "greyed out"? I can see the names of the macros when I click the picture of the sound but there are no buttons to tweak?

Is this a bug or is it my system? Running ST 2.5.4 with Windows XP SP2 :help:

Well, so far not mightily impressed. I get some buffer underruns when switching sounds at times. I also, for some reason select a preset and when I play my EMU XBoard, get a different sound slightly than when playing the software keyboard. ???

Post

I just uploaded 27 Combis for Sampletank 2 created using soundsets from the XT Group Buy content and following libraries:

Cinematik
OmniSynth2
OB Xpander
Vocal Collection
World Collection
Hip Hop Collection
Piano Collection

Hopefully at least a few people have chosen the same libraries and will find these useful. :hihi:

Definitely not expected behavior (the first) but with velocity and aftertouch on the X-Board perhaps that affects the sound vs the on-screen keyboard? Either way, there are fine folks in support that can likely get the bottom of both and very well. Like Squids said about Allen - that's their job and they are good at it :) If you log a ticket they should get you working quickly.

I bought in yesterday and have downloaded the Acoustic Guitar 2, OmniSynth 2, the SampleTank 2 XT Sounds, and Down Tempo Electronica so far. I could use a little help.

I already have SampleTank 2XL, and Sonik Synth 2 from way back (love em BTW) and was wondering - after reading ALL 184 pages - what some of you that are in my shoes think would be the best choices. I do not own Miroslav Philharmonik, or SampleMoog or SampleTron. I am really enjoying the Down Tempo Electronica package and may consider similar packages.

Also, a few pages back, I saw someone had organized their folders in a very cool way. Well I needed to make room on my drive for these new sounds anyway so I tried this myself and screwed up my SS2 install. I moved everything IK related from my C: drive over to an external drive and then neither ST2 nor SS2 would run. When I downlaoded the SampleTank XT package and installed that it fixed my ST2 problem, and even shows and plays my SS2 library within ST2. But I still can't get SS2 to work on its own. I'm sure I probably moved something out of a place that had pointers to it but I could use some help (or I can file a help request). Just wanted to tell my story so maybe it doesn't happen to someone else here like me who gets anxious.

So if you folks have enough suggestions I may buy in again to further the cause!

BTW - my epoints went to Rabid who was good to me a long time ago!

Hey Squids,

I only meant to point out that IK, eSoundz and Sonic Reality are not poor or struggling, that in fact, this has been a fantastically successful group buy and I'm happy to see you all doing well. I absolutely agree that it's another killer, no-brainer deal.

Personally, I would have easily spent $49 on the eSoundz bonus pack alone, Squids Tron Exclusive Extras (sorry, it's too late now, I already paid!). I've been looking at Squids Tron Exclusive Extras for a while and it was a very good deal at more than twice that price -- so when I saw it was a bonus selecton for the Group Buy, I was in. I kind of worked backwards. I got in the Group Buy for the eSoundz bonus disc and looked at the Xpansion Tank 2 Multisamples and Loops (yes, it's true, eDrummist uses drum loops in the early stages of writing new songs) as a cool added bonus.

I suppose I could say, "eSoundz had me at Squids Tron." (A movie reference -- well, a parody of one -- in your honor, Squids.) :D

I think the macros have to be programmed (by the developer) to connect with some ST parameters. If they are not programmed, they are greyed out in the instrument. It's too bad that they are not used more often. Every instrument could benefit from some sort of easy access to a parameter which could have a significant effect on the sound, whether it be detuning, filtering or whatever.

If you like Down Tempo Electronica, I highly recommend selecting all five of the other Construction Kits. It is much more along the same lines, and worth having! Great stuff. :-)

Just so you know, the Squids Tron Exclusive Extras normally sells for something like twice the price for the GB. http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=2173 That can be your esoundz bonus choice! And you still get the 7X1 (soon to be 8X1)!

No doubt getting the S.T.E.E. pack is more than enough reason to join the group buy for anyone who is into 'Trons and doesn't already have those sounds through Squids Tron Collection vol 1.

For anyone who has NOT yet joined through esoundz, getting to use the coupon code on the RAW and non-duplicate ReTank titles might be another.

If you're into the loops/grooves thing, it's something to think about - the three Latin titles aren't part of the Group Buy. The Drum and Bass ReTank title might be new as well (haven't really checked - European style drum and bass isn't my bag). Plus all the RAW versions of the SampleTank titles are available at discounts as well.

They're regularly around $50 each, and using the code you can get them at $25 each (the code is good for $25 off) through June 11 - plus you can get one as the esoundz "Raise the bar" bonus.

So if you like two of the titles, instead of buying them for $100 you could get them for $75 by joining the group buy once through esoundz and using the code to get the other. You'd save $25, plus you'd get 8 ExpansionTank choices through IK as a free bonus. (Plus you'd get the upcoming 1 gig set AND the XT player, if you didn't already have it.)

Or you could join the group buy twice, pay the same $100 price as buying the two loops packages individually, and get 16 other ExpansionTank titles through IK for free.

Friendly bump to next page.
