A few pages ago, I posted that I wouldn't be buying this since I was unable to use the SampleTank 2 L I bought in a previous group buy because of the unreadable GUI. Well, last night I found the manual that the installer had hidden on my hard drive and discovered I could change the colours.
Long story short: I did and now I can just about read it (with glasses). So I dived into this new group buy. While we're waiting for the last few moo-cows to come home, would someone mind answering a couple of questions for me?
1. I already have ST 2L installed. Do I absolutely HAVE TO install ST 2XT to use the expansions or can I just install them and use ST 2L to authorise?
2. Is the ST 2XT library the same as the one for ST 2L or is it worthwhile installing?
Thanks in advance for sharing the knowledge.
(This is exciting, isn't it? Sad in a way, but still exciting.)

Kind regards.

You need to register the ST 2 XT serial to get your downloads but it is the same as the main SampleTank 2.5.4 engine so you don't need to install it. I'd recommend updating your SampleTank that IS installed to 2.5.4 - that update would be available to you in your User AreaDave Bourke wrote: 1. I already have ST 2L installed. It is not the same, it contains a mix of different sounds from the various products, the Tanks, etc. Worth installing IMO.2. Is the ST 2XT library the same as the one for ST 2L or is it worthwhile installing?

I'd just like to thank IK and eSoundz for this great opportunity, I'm permanently skint and can't afford massive romplers like Omnisynth, but for a meager sum I now have a great selection of sounds, all I need now is plenty of time and loads of inspiration, hip, hip..

@ Peter Toriello:
Thanks for the speedy information, Peter. And many thanks to you and your IK Multimedia colleagues for giving us the opportunity to buy really decent sounds at a really decent price.
Kind regards.

1) you really don't have to do either. Your SampleTank 2L (or any other version for that matter) can read these libraries of sounds, and its the program you authorize rather than the sound banks.Dave Bourke wrote:A few pages ago, I posted that I wouldn't be buying this since I was unable to use the SampleTank 2 L I bought in a previous group buy because of the unreadable GUI. Basically it's a matter of just copying the sounds you want to load into your sounds folder (note - organizing them into subfolders helps; we've had several posts with tips on that) and having SampleTank refresh its listings.
Side note - you can also load the Sonik Synth 2, SampleMoog, SampleTron and Miroslav Philharmonik libarires into SampleTank. It may sound nuts, but I use SampleTank rather than SampleTron to play the SampleTron sounds.
2) The ST2 XT library is just a little demo set of sounds from various other products. Some of them will be repeats from SampleTank 2 L or from the sound sets you're getting in this group buy.
I'd just unzip it, browse through it and copy the few I wanted to use.

Congratulations Everyone!
You definitely have to register ST 2XT to get your libraries, but you can continue to use ST 2L if you prefer. You might want to upgrade to ST 2XT, though. We are at ST 2.5.4 and it might function more efficiently for you.
There is no library that comes with ST 2XT except for the 1GB library which is included in this GB, which is a collection of instruments from a number of different sound sets, including SampleMoog, SampleTank 2XL, assorted eSoundz libraries and more. You will probably want to download and install this, as you probably have none of the included content... although I have no idea what you got with ST 2L as I am a 2XL user.
Enjoy!

I'm also very thankful for this great deal......now, I have a large library of sounds with a very good rompler.....suppose I should get a keyboard & learn how to play now!!!
When using ST as a stand alone, I noticed I can use the scroll on my mouse to navigate through the libraries, but when I insert ST as a softsynth in Sonar8.5, the scroll function doesn't work?? Is there a setting that needs to be changed?

Torgo beat me to it! And Peter beat us both!
But of course I also use SampleTron in SampleTank.

I knew you were a bit of a weirdo.torgo wrote: It may sound nuts, but I use SampleTank rather than SampleTron to play the SampleTron sounds.

I think my post got lost in the deluge, so I'll try one last time:
ModernTechRap has got different loops in Menu Map Grooves and Loops & Slices. From another poster, Up Temp Electronica has also got different sets of loops in MMG and L&S.
Do any of the grrove packs have the SAME sets of loops in both MMG and L&S? Especially interested to know about Down Tempo Electronica but info about other packs would also be welcome.
I'm torn between a Multi Sample Set that I don't really need or having a bit of fun with groove packs, so I just wanna make sure on the content of the groove packs as it seems a bit variable in terms of format.
Cheers

This one brought the IK sever to it's knees I guess. Slow to no connection.
Yes thanks to IK and SR for a great group buy. Loads of fun.

They are all supposed to have the same loops in MMG and L&S. If there are some content errors, then I imagine Squids or Allen will remedy that with a fix.samsam wrote:Do any of the grrove packs have the SAME sets of loops in both MMG and L&S? They are all named the same in my Down Tempo Electronica pack, but I haven't yet auditioned that pack.
