At 196 pages, I don't think that is likely to happen!

And at 6105 registrations, I think we have a solid record for group buys!

And for what it's worth, I think jazz brass sounds are going to be a tough find, if you want realistic playback. Mojo horns may get you closer than this GB. But then again, what's a jazz player looking for brass sounds hanging out around these parts? Have you not noticed the riff raft around here? Scary!

Seroiusly, I'd recomend trying one of the composer forums (Nothernsounds or v. i. control) for advice on the brass instruments.

But... what this GB can supply you with is sounds for your far out jazz experiments, and your Weather report covers, and even some old Rippingtons sounds. We can supply you with gigs of sounds for dirt cheap! No Euphonium, but we can give you harmonium!

Sorry, I could resist any longer...

oops! Did it again! Top of the page.

I love some of the brass sections and solo brass instruments in the main ST soundset. I have used them many times over the years, and it is always great to have lots to choose from when you need a particular kind of horn sound in a song.

However, if you want the most realistic and expressive VI horns on the market, this is where you need to go:

Just listen to the audio demos, and you will know what you have to do.

Scripting at its finest. :-)

Heh, heh...my dirty little secret is that I really like all styles of music and just want to do some experimenting...with the brass, some world percussion, etc., etc., and I actually like hanging around with the riff raff! 8)

I will check out those other forums you mentioned, though...

Well then, welcome to KVR!

And to be a little serious, Brass sampling has come a long way, but brass for jazz is very different from orchestral brass. So there is still a way to go. Most people who want to do this are also going to want to chart there music, so the notation program's forums might be a good place to look as well. I know someone has actually gone to the trouble of sampling an marching band/drum corps drum line. I believe it's available as a Kontakt Player library, and most people who use it, do so in Finale or Sibelius. So someone will do it for jazz brass, if it hasn't already been done.

And back on topic, isn't the Brazilian RAW available as one of the esoundz bonus choices? And we have World instruments and World grooves as choices.

Do you mean one of the bonus choices with this group buy? I remember the World Instruments and World Grooves but don't remember mention of anything Brazilian...that would be too cool. :o

Hey, I want James Brown kind of brass, and I don't chart anything. And rock 'n roll sax parts. I don't think this is particularly esoteric. It's a big need, for fairly ordinary purposes.

I don't think anyone's suggested it's not a big need or that it's esoteric.

Rev. is just stating that there aren't a lot of good options for that kind of brass.

Peter,

I have at last installed one of the newly downloaded XT libraries.
And it would be nice to have a dialog in the library installer to specify where the library files should go.

My current music production PC is a triple boot of XP(x86), Vista (x86) and Win 7 (x64). I keep every sample library, including SampleTank and Kontakt, in a dedicated drive (1TB) so that I can easily share the newly installed libraries among the three OS. (Some libraries doesn't allow this, though)

I can copy/move the library from the installer's default location, but it'd be nice if I can explicitly specify the destination location from the installer.

Best,

Nicky

P.S.
has anyone tried T.C. elctronic Polytune app for iPhone? I'm wondering if I can use the app with IK's iRig cable. That's kinda perfect downsizing from rack effects and a pedal board :-)

I noticed the same, but then I also noticed the installer is not needed at all: instead of running the installer and moving the files from the default install location, you can just copy the contents of the "Instruments" folder straight into your Sampletank sound location. That's what the installer does, anyway, but only defaults to the C: location.

This way I have all the sounds and child presets in Sampletank as I should. But I guess it never hurts to ask: IK people, did I miss something by doing this? Does the installer install something else, like ready-made combis or similar, perhaps? (I'm not sure I need those, though :).. But something else?)

Post

Move the "Instruments" folder to the other drive.
Bring up SampleTank, hit the "Prefs" button, and change the lib "Instruments" path.
When you install new sample libs, it will use this path.
(It's in the manual)

When I saw that price, I figured it was either a typo, different product with the same name -- otherwise, please, share the link to the (legit) store with the $49 sale price for that ASAP!

IIRC current owners of ST2 could get another expansion title (when buying from esoundz) instead of the ST engine + samples (since we don't need the plug-in, just the samples). Is this still true?
I'm just bumping Ionized's question, in case it got lost. I'm interested to know the answer.

What is IIRC? I can't figure it out.

In any case, I heard directly from Allen that there is no part of the deal (or ever was) that would allow an extra pack for existing ST owners.

And in any case, whether you previously had ST or not, you will still have to register the new copy of ST in order to get your free packs, and you will earn IK jam points for doing so.
