So, I'm just about to join the GB as well. Is it possible to use Paypal at esoundz.com? The shop lets me pick Paypal as a payment option, but the info text isn't clear about if it's valid with this groubuy or not, and I couldn't find any information about this on the product page.

It's easy to be confused on that one. I even put in a support ticket with esoundz about it because they didn't have a full, complete and accurate list of all the +1 choices posted on their web site at any point BEFORE you redeem your bonus code.

Squids says they're working to fix that, but in the meantime, we're still kinda floundering here.

So if you're leaning towards specific products for your official 8 and your +1, be sure to post here and ask any and all questions you might have BEFORE making your selections official.

That especially goes for the +1, as most but NOT all of the RAW/ReTank titles are on the list. DEFINITELY ask first. Several of us have ended up getting burned by a lack of or misleading information.

The Expansion Tank line was the "official" set of titles created by Sonic Reality and sold through IK and other retailers. The ReTank line is stuff in SampleTank format that was created by SR but NOT available directly from IK.

But... the Expansion Tank line has now become the "XpansionTank 2" line, with the new XT2 player replacing the old SampleTank 2 LE player.

(Peter - other than the name, is there any difference between XT and LE?)

Many titles that weren't in the old Expansion Tank line (loops packages from the ReTank series) have now been added to the XpansionTank 2 line. And more are on the way.

The catch is that the new, official XpansionTank 2 versions of these titles aren't necessarily exactly the same as the previous ReTank versions. Some of the XpansionTank 2 titles will have bits and pieces from more than one of the ReTank titles.

In theory, the XpansionTank 2 line will be the new and shiny, best versions. The ReTank series might then fade away into obscurity.

Or maybe not - the v1's of those Expansion Tank collections haven't entirely vanished yet, though the titles created by companies other than SR have indeed disappeared from the face of the planet. (Anyone remember the Brit Horns, Pukka Masala, Phil Gould On Drums, MelloZone, etc titles?)

Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Oh I'd wait a little while to make sure you have ALL the offers to mull over... this one is great and still going to give 8 for the price of 1 until the end but I did mention we've got something coming. Could even be IMMEDIATELY after this one, by chance. So you might want to keep things "at the ready" until you see what's in store.

Edit - and yes, it does seem Squids has ALREADY pulled through with a tempting set of offers so let those be a great option for you too.
Hi Peter, this "something coming", does it involve this actual Sampletank group buy or is it another IK Multimedia product? I'm dying to know!
Something different, after the group buy is over.
ST3?
No.
Well that is just rude... but ok..
Haha. Sorry for the rare short reply Vitamin! I was in a hurry and wanted to reply quick to put that to rest for ya. The full version was "No, sorry man, but someday maybe!" ;)

Yes you can use Paypal on this one.

Yes, LE is no longer updated (I believe the last update as in 2004 or so and is 2.0.x so not even the 2.5 level) and XT is the same as the current ST engine (2.5.4 currently).

The support ticket suggestion is a good one, direct email probably won't be as quick. Either way, the "StealthRock" will be there as "not eligible" because it lists the promotions but did you get your FIRST one using the "Multibox" button? That's your first, and only seven will then show under "Promotions"

Hey, a question to everybody! Especially to the people who are closely familiar with the sounds (Squids, Peter...) but also to the ones who have already played with these for a good while from this deal:

What packs would you recommend if you had to choose the ones with most dynamic and expressive melodic/lead sounds?

I mean this in a general sense, regardless of the instrument group: it could be that the Arp pack contains some magnificently expressive synth leads (or perhaps just one single hugely great one), or maybe you think the Acoustic Guitar is especially expressive, and so on...

I'm asking because I haven't chosen my last two packs, and I realized I really wouldn't like to miss something that stands out as exceptionally playable. I'm not telling what packs I have picked so far, so that the answers are a general view of the matter, cover everything evenly and can be of use to everyone :)

So... What do you think are the most playable ones out there, the ones that respond very well to nuances and dynamic touches?

Thanks for the info on LE vs XT, Peter!

Jazzrascal - it turns out that I'm in a similar situation, as is Zedd. I'm hoping to find good brass/woodwinds to play using my Yamaha WX5 controller, but also interested in other jazz (particularly Big Band and various Latin flavors).

For the horns: one package I'm looking at is the Kontakt Sax & Brass package from NI. It's a sound library that lists for $59. You'd play it using the Kore Player, which is a free download.

http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... and-brass/

For everything OTHER than the horns: there's plenty here to make this a screaming bargain at $50. One possibility for the jazz musician with extra interest in Brazilian/Latin flavors:

Buy it through esoundz, and get the Latin Brazilian grooves package (RAW format or ReTank, whichever you prefer) as your +1 bonus, with the World Instruments, World Grooves, Jazz Grooves, Omnisynth 2, Acoustic Drum 2, Acoustic Guitar 2, Bass 2 and Piano 2 collections as your eight choices through IK.

Those packages, plus what's in the library with the XT player and the upcoming Squids Mystery Bonus library ought to be more than enough to be worth the $50.

Lead?
ARP
Obi
Hip Hop
Vintage Keys

Maybe Electric Guitar. I don't think I'd really use it for leads, but some creative people could.
