GreenEugene is a saturation filter and distortion plug. When used gentle without the drive function it can be useful on a full track to achieve some added color and dynamic changes to the mix. When the push knob is dialed in GreenEugene is becoming a distortion effect more useful on stuff like guitars or single instruments. A plug that fits in many places when used right.

GreenEugene version 0.4

Features:

Saturation- Dry/Wet mix knob.

Push- A push in amplitude multiplier to get heavy distortion.

Ctrl+Left mouse click to default knobs.

Format: VST for Windows

I would like to get feedback on how you like/ dislike the saturation primary without the Push * drive knob dialled in. The Push * drive knob is a bonus for overdrive freaks and eventually to push up a low levelled signal.

Just saw your plugs-- I'll give 'em a go on a new song I'm working on and let you know what I think. Thanks for these!
I am the musical equivalent of a brick...

I tried it, I would call it an overdrive as opposed to saturation, it can saturate with the lighter stages but at the level I would actually use a saturation at, it's clearly gritty like an overdrive.

Thank you for testing.

I mention in the description that when you dial in the drive it becomes a distortion/overdrive effect. But do you mean that it distorts the sound to much with just the dry/wet knob dialed in? Im working on tweaks to make it sound sparkling with a nice color to it on the plain saturation side. I'm so early in the design of this plug so not all updates are going to be announced. But I uploaded a minor update a moment ago.

i fully agree! Even if i agree with RunBeerRun that the sound this plug produce is more like an overdrive than a saturation, it's different from any other drive-tool for this particular use, preserve very very well the low-end and at the same time give to the bass that "inyourface" rock bass sound: adjusted the two knobs to give a very very light "saturation" (both on 9 o'clock) i prefer GreenEugene to Voxengo Tube Amp, BootsyMKII drive and TLS saturated drive for this use.
Thanks audioteknikk!
...think i'll try this on guitars to... :)

Thank you for the nice feedback. I have just uploaded an update that is more subtle on the saturation side. The whole sound is a little different now. But I believe it is to the better. Please let me know what you think. If you really like the previous version. Remember not to overwrite it :P

I have now added a couple of audio-demos for GE on my website. You find them with the plug. Please don't hate me for playing guitar and bass so badly :hihi:

But at least you hear what the plug is about.

Oh boy, I tried this on a full techno mix, drive at 0 and saturation at 20%. NICE!!! It just adds that little warmth that was missing. Very subtle

Just updated the plug to version 0.6beta.
Improvements in sound and character.
Plus a tiny change in the text on the GUI.

In fact the first one (v0.4) is still on my bass gtr track, I'm perfectly happy with that one. But I will try the new version for sure. Thanks!

Thanks! Nice to hear :)

The idea is the plug shall be useful both as a soft saturation effect and as a overdrive/ distortion when driven hard. And I want to make it sound as analogue as possible. It also affects tone and dynamics in the time domain.

I really need some feedback from people to know if I am on the right track here. :help:
