It seems that I have only got seven downloads as they put stealthrock in my first slot which I am not eligible.I have e-mailed IK UK which will probably be a few days for reply.

Anyone else got the same problem???

Yes, I have that too, but it did not occurr to me that they were counting this as a slot for the Xpansion buy. I do not think they are, but now I am wondering if they should not have put it there at all. It has been a mystery.
See my response to the original post about this. You'll see promotion for which you are not eligible in your User Area. However, in this case you will see SIX there for this group buy and the first is under "Multibox". For more details, refer to my previous post. Thanks!

Please read through the entire thread before posting questions.
Examigan wrote:Someone else mentioned a June 15th grace period, does that mean everyone has till that date to buy in? Or does it mean something else? :?

Also, I have Sampletank2xl, are any of these group-buy sounds already part of that libary, or are they totally different?
Okay... well I was just kidding.

I believe you can continue to buy in until the 15th, even though the GB will be officially over.

I also have ST2XL. There is no overlap with these Xpansion packs, except for the 1GB Bonus Library which has an assortment of instruments from different libraries, including some from ST 2XL.
Thanks, but about reading the 198 pages....umm, I will try my best next time

Just wanted to recommend Down Tempo Electronica construction kit. I played through it last night and found it very fun to play and some great music can be had with it. If you are looking for a final selection- consider it (I also like that it uses only the white keys unlike some other construction kits).

I'm looking for pads. Should I choose Cinematik? And the info in the e-mail is by now public knowledge. 50% on upgrades.

Agreed , much to my pleasent surprise there are some very inspiring loops in there. It took me out of my comfort zone and gave me some creative fodder. In fact , I selected this one and then a couple of other constructions kits to round out my collection. - Scotty

Yikes - that makes it a tougher call.

The best I can do for you is note that Symphony Strings 2 is split about half and half between the solo instruments and sections / ensembles, with roughly 350-360 meg of individual instruments and 350-360 megs of pad-like sections and ensembles.

I had the original Symphony Strings collection (which didn't have the solo instruments) and found that I liked to tailor my own pads by combining the sections together.

For example, to play an open fifth of G and D, I'd experiment by playing each note in two octaves. The bottom G and highest D would come from one ensemble patch, and the two notes in the middle would come from a different patch, probably a "section" with a slightly different feel to it.

I haven't tinkered with Cinematik enough to comment on its capabilities for string pads/orchestral sounds.

Can anyone who has spent more time with Cinematik help with a more detailed review?

See my example made specifically for someone asking if Cinematik could do more traditional orchestral and not just soundscape/track stuff: http://storage.tinytoaster.com/STCinematikOrch.mp3

Is the content of the Xpansion Tank Loop Collection "Dirty South Grooves" different from the RAW Style Pak "Hip Hop Dirty South" or are there any identical loops?

Post

Can anyone answer these questions, please: Do the Xpansion Tanks have to be authorized if you already own a SampleTank license? What kind of copy protection do the Xpansion Tanks have?

Post

You need to register your "SampleTank XT Multibox" with IK in order to gain access to download your 8 sound packs. You don't have to actually install the SampleTank XT player if you already have SampleTank 2.5 L or XL, though, so you don't need to authorize it. The player is identical to the one in SampleTank 2.5 L or XL.

The Xpansion Tanks themselves are just .zip files with SampleTank sounds (and an installer which isn't really necessary) - that is, .sth, .stw, .stip and so on. You can just unzip them into your SampleTank instruments directory and hit "Relist" inside SampleTank to use them. There is no copy protection on the sounds. The SampleTank player is the only thing you authorize.

IIRC current owners of ST2 could get another expansion title (when buying from esoundz) instead of the ST engine + samples (since we don't need the plug-in, just the samples). Is this still true?
I'm just bumping Ionized's question, in case it got lost. I'm interested to know the answer.
What is IIRC? I can't figure it out.

In any case, I heard directly from Allen that there is no part of the deal (or ever was) that would allow an extra pack for existing ST owners.

And in any case, whether you previously had ST or not, you will still have to register the new copy of ST in order to get your free packs, and you will earn IK jam points for doing so.
Thanks for the answer zedd! Looks like IRI (I Remembered Incorrectly)

We are rockin' along at 6316 registrations! How hi will it go?

As far as pads go, it's a tough question for me. I think both sym string and would make good pad sounds. Cinematik would probably be somewhat more complex sounding. Remember that you can make a pad with most sounds by adjusting the attack and release. Personally, I like Sym Strings for pad sounds, but each to his own.

Pretty close if not exact.

Don't know how it will affect your decision, but from this thread: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=288501
