I think that probably has to do with the fact that each of these Xpansion packs is supposed to be somewhere around 1GB, and since those 200 loops took it to near 975MB, the rest of the loops got stripped from this GB product. Just guessing here.youngwoerth wrote:Sorry but I don't understand it.
Same thing? Then please, could you explain to me, why Retank has 500 loops and the Construction Kit you can choose in the Group Buy only has 200 loops? And why are there completely different demos??
I was just pointing out that ReTank is the name which I believe Squids had originally coined for the Loop Slice versions of the RAW products. So if someone refers to ReTank, they are talking about Loop Slice ST format. We'll see what they decide to call that format in ST3, and then it will be official!

I've got one more pick left on the 8 for 1, and I have a question about the drum package. Can individual kit pieces be loaded into ST, or is it kits only can be loaded? Thanks!

Same thing.
If anyone is confused about the different series, it's a matter of marketing and timing. This "XPansionTank" line is the new "official" line of multisamples and loops that are being sold through IK.
The previous one was the "ExpansionTank" line, and there are some differences. (In particular, the original ExpansionTank line also included what IK called their Sound Designer series. It had packages from other makers besides Sonic Reality, such as AMG and MasterBits.)
Sonic Reality created the ReTank line to sell its own loops and groove packages in SampleTank format. But these were NOT jointly marketed with IK. They were SR's own deal rather than part of the "official" IK line. Likewise, the Sonic Capsules series offered multisample packages for drums and guitars - but again, this was SR marketing stuff on its own rather than in partnership with IK.
So now we're up to SampleTank 2.5. The XT player has replaced the LE player. StudiophonIK is on the way, and ST3 is under development. So in looking to the future, we now get the XPansionTank series to replace the ExpansionTank line.
Non-SR titles from the old Expansion Tank line have gone the way of the dinosaur. (You might still be able to find "Brit Horns", "Loop Soup" etc out there at your local store. But good luck finding them - and you might not want them even if you do. Brit Horns, for example, is only about 100 meg. Not much value for the $90 price tag your local store might have on it.) Piano Collection, Omnisynth, etc have been upgraded to Piano Collection 2, Omnisynth 2, etc. Guitar Collection is now Acoustic Guitar Collection 2 and Electric Guitar Collection 2. The new Acoustic Drums incorporates the Sonic Capsules: Studio Drums package. You get the idea...
And some of the new XPansionTank loops packages mix and match bits from some of the old titles. Yes, it really is important to check before making your "+1" selection.
The main thing to know is that the XPansionTank titles will be the new and shiny versions of everything. More titles are on the way. Just a guess, but odds are that virtually all the sounds we'd actually want from the old ReTank line will eventually end up in one of the XPansionTank products.

I just did and I did understand your question.youngwoerth wrote:Finally I can see that you don't understand my question at all, Reverend.![]()
I never mentioned "Retank"!
These are the products I was asking for:
1. Xpansion Construction Kit "Dirty South Grooves"
Construction Kit Loops & Slices in the style of Hip Hop & Dirty South
2. R.A.W. Style Pak: Hip Hop Dirty South
Rather confusing that there are so many similar products...
@Squids: Please confirm.

Just full kits. Although if you got it from esoundz and you choose the Studio Drums Capsule then THAT does have full kits AND individual kit pieces to make your own combinations.Milt wrote:I've got one more pick left on the 8 for 1, and I have a question about the drum package. I have the Rare & Vintage group buy from 2008. How much overlap from that is there with IK's Vintage Keys Collection, World Instruments Collection, SampleArp Solo, and SampleOB Xpander?
Also, are the Seventies Retro Grooves loops the same as the Retro Groove Collection from the Rare & Vintage group buy?
Thanks,
Chadd

Not much overlap with World Instruments, but much of Vintage Keys and SampleArp was included in a previous GB, probably the Rare & Vintage One.chadd wrote:I have the Rare & Vintage group buy from 2008. Confirming what zedd said: SampleArp Solo and Vintage Keys are nearly 100% duplicates from that group buy. World Instruments and SampleOB seem to have little to no overlap, going by the patch lists on ikmultimedia.com.chadd wrote:I have the Rare & Vintage group buy from 2008. I'm sure I read many times in these hundreds of pages - that I can join twice snd therefor get 16 for 2.
So I just joined a second time (first time was several weeks ago ,direct thru IK; second time just now thru esoundz. So how does it work?
I registered and see my 7 bonus sounds available....
BUT what happened to the remainder on the first time???
I only downloaded 5 so far ?!?!?!?!?!

Really sorry if this has been asked before, but I have only just got back here & don't have time to wade through 200+ pages.
1) I already have Sampletank XL so presumably there is no point in downloading the XT version that comes with the GB?
2) I have downloaded 7 of the 8 from IK to my Mac G5, but when I try to run the Mac Installer I get an error message the the package will not work. Help! What have I done wrong?
