I will refrain from officially voting (if not participants are even allowed to vote) since its my synth that you guys worked with, but I just got a chance to listen to them all and I must say, you guys have all done great work with Texture. I am really impressed by these tracks.

Post

Thanks very much ugo :) .... I'll just clarify, voting is open to all KVR members. :)

As you may be aware, the tracks will be incorporated into an e-album when the contest is over, and you will be sent a copy. if you know how to embed it into your site, then you're welcome .... As it's your synth, you might want to think about sending me any ideas, images, info, links etc, relevant to 'Texture' or your plugins in general, that you would like to see incorporated into the e-album package :)

10 pts: Drunkdelia - Uiiuiiu
Phat groove ala SuomiSaundi, me like. Cool sounds squeezed out of tricky Texture and well produced track with thick bass and clever automation and variation on a theme.
7 pts: GetTarnce - Totolitoto
Possibly the fastest tempo seen in last 5 OSC's but I like. Good tune, sounds and production.
5 pts: The Age of Analog Communication - Mike777
Not bad to get Texture to sound analogish. ;) Nice varied melody with fitting parts and interesting sounds.
3 pts: Out of the Blue into Thin Air - Yeager
Good production as usual.
1 pt: MOTION - Mac_of_BIOnighT
Solid good sounds and Tangerine-esque tune.

Sry, to took so long, been little bit busy in the last few days.

----------------------

No to the tracks :

GetTarnce - Totolitoto / 10 pts

Flows along really nicely, good fx + lead sounds and well thought out beat. Could see this one played as it is in a underground party easily. The transformation in to the "more goa orianted" sound could have worked even better with some fine tuning, but still it doesn't brake the overall excellent energy of the song and thus 10points from me.

Tunguska - V'ger / 7 pts

Excellent play with soundscaping and song writing. Space and subtle layering of sounds that delivers a very strong and enjoyable mood to the song. Its only real weakness is also it's strength, the athmospheric nature of the track. Would have split the points between the first and second place if it would have been possible.

Out of the Blue into Thin Air - Yeager / 5 pts

Well produced and composed track, which I could see in the background of one of those smaller indie animations ( something I enjoy, since they usually take risks with their approach to music and emotions they summon ). Really liked the mix of "acidy" synth lines and rhodes background instrument.

The Age of Analog Communication - Mike777 / 3 pts

Nice familiar melodies, would have liked the song to have gone more in to a some direction, now it hangs around little too much for my taste. Still like I said very nice melody and harmony playing around a familiar theme.

Flexture - XGmode / 1 pts

Proper techno track. I really like the very high end "snap" in the kick and although at times there isn't that much in terms of where the track is going, the track keeps very tightly together and in techno that is exaclty what it is supposed to do.

-----------------------

In all, very close competition, with very enjoyable music as a result.

Hi there,

Thanks everybody for the votes!
This comp tracks are truly excellent

Tunguska - Vger : 10 pts

As always, I love what V'ger's music has to tell. :D

Flexture - XGmode : 7 pts

This is the kind of music I'd like to drive with
Very cool drums, and excellent bassline

MOTION - Mac of BIOnighT : 5 pts

Reminds me of the best hours of Tangerine Dream. Excellent track :D

Hyper Kaos Dawn - AbstractCats : 3 pts

Nice ambient track, trippy

Out of the Blue into Thin Air - Yeager : 1 pt

That track is not totally my cup of tea, but I admire the musician

Sorry, dont have time to do a detailed analysis just now, but the story in brief is that Tunguska is screaming on ahead, 2nd to 4th places have shuffled round. Likewise, 6th to 8th have swapped seats, and in between, Flexture hangs on tight to 5th.

Long way to go though folks, so lets get more votes in and see how it all shakes up! :)

You're welcome :)
BTW I hope you don't mind me comparing your music to Tangerine Dream (being compared can easily become anoying)
One thing is sure: Tangerine used very expensive analog stuff and you can re-create their sound with a synthedit freeware. That's quite a performance ;)

Not at all, after all Berlin School, as a genre, was created by them and by Klaus Schulze, so they're the direct masters - no way one could play Berlin School and not remind of them in some way
I consider that an honor, in fact :)
Thanks again for the nice comments!

Come on guys, take your fingers out your a**! :hihi:

Indeed; the contest would be more interesting if there were more votes. Given the artistic merit of what the OSC participants are creating; one would hope the non-participants of KVR might be paying more attention to the OSCs.

Maybe; as with the 'music cafe' contest; people don't generally have the time to listen to all of the entries. It could be that this upcoming, 'free for all' (NAS2?) is going to get at least a bit more forum interest.

Be that as it may, thanks for the vote, Mac!

I will vote soon, just need to listen to Tattie's track. I'm glad I didn't participate, 'cause then I'd sucked a big time :D

Am I the only one who's not interested in 'music cafe' contest? I tried to listen what people are creating there and somehow OSC fits me better. (I mean even for listening, not taking part of course).
