OSC16 - Ugo's Texture - Yeager Wins!

The music cafe's monthlies are a bit different in that they're not so synth oriented and non-vocal tracks don't do as well, although Steplton won with an instrumental in the last comp.
One also has to give points to 10 songs which makes voting a bit trickier. But this months theme is percussion only which could fit for all.

I listen to stuff in the Music cafe from time to time, and a whole heap of cool stuff there, but I kinda like the 'group' feeling about the OSC .... the knowledge that we are all taking on the same challenge, facing the same issues at the same time, and using different ways of overcoming the restrictions ... I think participating in the challenge gives rise to a greater appreciation of what everyone else in the comp has achieved .. and thats probably the reason why more votes dont come from folks who are not/have not engaged in the comps.
However, its good that we continue to pick up new participants, and those who cannot participate in particular comps for whatever reason, still make the effort to offer their comments and votes.
Anyway, a little bit of news, I've already started working on the texture e-album ... found a methodical way of adding more tracks without the risk of confusion. having found out how to add active weblinks, I'm gonna have a row of clickable links/buttons, prob along the bottom, to sites/pages of our prize donors, synth developer, and any other supporters of the comp.. or maybe have a button which swaps this set of links with links to the artists sites etc... and maybe a link to a folder with our texture presets.
So, being ahead of the game for a change, I thought it might be a good time to ask participants and donors to have a think about what they would like to have included in the album ... either on the track info panels, in the 'click F1' info page, logos for their link buttons, pictures of self/studio/band/pets/artwork, ... please PM me any ideas/links etc ...or to get my email address to send material to .... or post links here if you like.
... oh, and lets have some presets! I'll create a folder as usual, and post it here later.

Great you are doing another album Tattie and good you managed to do links, having ones for the synth dev and the prize donors is very fitting.
The only other thing I can think of is to list the songs according to their finishing positions in the comp (with points score) and maybe a line about the song author, synth developer and donors as well, or is that too much work?

It wasn't hard to vote this time, so:
The Age of Analog Communication - Mike777 10
I like them progressions and the overall neoclassical feel. It's really beautiful
GetTarnce - Totolitoto 7
I guess it's the first time I vote for Totolitoto. Well deserved, It's awesome even for trance-haters like me!
MOTION - Mac of BIOnighT 5
I'm starting to dig Mac's music more and more. Could it be love?(In a totally non-gay way of course
)
Out of the Blue into Thin Air - OSCXVI - Yeager 3
Yeager is great as always, technically and musically, but this time it's not my cup of whatever.
Uh Oh ... Here Comes Trouble - Tattiemannie 1
Too drunk to make meaningful comments. His melodies are always overwhelming, but never too much.

Cheers for the votes Nahkranoth, and cheers to all the other guys I forgot to thank last time round.

... quite the opposite in some cases
I feel the process whereby the tracks are placed in alphabetical order according to track name, sort of randomises the listing ... but of course, now I've said that, artists can now 'engineer' their place on the album
I wouldn't want to put a points score on the album either, presented as an album where all tracks are there on equal merit by way of being submitted to the comp, I think leaving rating to the listener is best, and also, dont know about you guys, but listening to the tracks as an album, without having to draw comparisons, kinda gives individual tracks a space to occupy, which becomes their own, and would be hard pressed to replace regardless of where they ended up in the vote.
It's actually a bigger job with less input, so hit me!
You can see the amount of info that generally goes into the track info pop ups, so it would be cool if individual artists could PM me what they want on there, and if they can tell me which review quote they most enjoyed, ( and send me the quote ) that would save me a lot of time raking through all the comments for all the tracks and trying to think what would be best.
however, I will be writing to all donors, and to Ugo, sooner rather than later to gather any info/images/advertising etc they want to have included.
One other thing, although I should quickly apologise for my distractions to what is supposed to be a thread for votes
.... Should I continue to PM the album link to contributors only? ....or just post a public link? ... I would be posting links to the previous participants prizes anyway, so everyone would get a 'heads up' on it. Whaddya think?
V'ger wrote ...
I thought of the song listing according to finishing place, but I felt that could possibly be an album which starts at the top and works its way down in terms of quality and content .... and that's no disrespect to guys who finish up in lower places, I think my voting history is evidence that I am not always convinced that the lower placed tracks are lower quality! The only other thing I can think of is to list the songs according to their finishing positions in the comp (with points score)

Yeah, cool ... and that is what I have attempted to do ... though with the StringZ album, I did not find the time to ask as many contributors as I would have liked, to submit a little bit of info re. their track/themselves ... and those I did get round to asking, didn't give me anything specific to work with ... so, as I asked above, while we're ahead of the game, gimme your info!and maybe a line about the song author, synth developer and donors as well, or is that too much work?

It would be fun to know what the creator of the synth think about our tracks

I'd like to hear it, thanks!Mac of BIOnighT wrote:Thanks for the vote, I really appreciate itBy the way, one of my best Berlin School albums (one of the very few things I've done I feel may actually have some value) will be up for free download soon (it's just gone out of catalog with the label, so I can make it available), if you want and if I remember I'll let you know when it's up

thanks Nahkranoth for top vote for "The Age of Analog Communication".
A bit of explanation about the title. I was a kid in the 60's and I remember we visited my aunt once who worked at the phone company. This is something I will never forget- she let us see the phone company control room! I remember seeing a large wall of relay type circuits! That's all I remember but I was very impressed. I'm now fascinated by tech history. Today we are now in the age of digital communication, but it was analog communication that first connected the world.

Hey, another OSC that I had no time to participate (becoming a usual thing). But no barriers
to enjoy the music and vote.
Tunguska ~ V'ger 10 pts
Excellent use of the synth considering the wisely created atmosphere [slowly bowing smiley]
GetTarnce ~ Totolitoto 7 pts
This one had an accelerating effect on my blood flow... hedonistically liked it
Escape From the Asylum ~ Mike777 5 pts
I like the blend of the moods
MOTION ~ Mac of BIOnighT 3 pts
No it is not too much going on to me, some great details here
nilbog convert ~ hivefleet megalon 1 pts
I like the tension it has
