Peter @ IKM

Just so that everyone is clear, can you confirm the following:
  • last date to buy XpansionTank GB from IKM: 06 June (so it is now closed)
  • last date to register ST XT at IKM to get the bonuses: ????
  • last date to choose the GB bonus Xpansions: ???
  • last date to download ST XT and the 1 GB library: ???
  • last date to download the selected Xpansions: ???
My understanding is:
-- register XT2: by 14th June 2010
-- download the XT2 1GB library: 06 July (30 days after close date) or is it 30 days after registering?
-- choose XPansoins: 06 July (30 days after close date) or is it 30 days after registering?
-- download Xpansions: 06 July (30 days after close date) or is it 30 days after registering or is it 30 days after selecting

Note: After 30 days, the download libraries are removed from the list. If you need to download a a library again, you can buy a Download Reactivation Credit (£30 or €20) to make it available for another 30 days.

--------------------
From IKM web site (my underlining):
Please note that SampleTank 2 XT sounds will remain available for download from your IK User Area for a period of 30 days after the registration of the Xpansion Tank 2. Claims for promotional products cannot be made after that date
and

and
You will need to download the sounds library within 30 days of registering the plug-in

For some reason, this thread is no longer sending me notification e-mails. :-(
Maybe after adding this message I will be back in the loop...

Peter, with regards to DarkStar's question above... I talked a friend into joining the GB, and he did so during a brief return home, but he is back on the road again and may not make the June 14th deadline. I don't think he even registered SampleTank 2XT. What will happen if he fails to do this stuff before the time's up?

I've had that happen. I think sometimes your cookie to automatically log in expires, and the next time you read the thread, it doesn't know it's you anymore, so it doesn't know you've read it. So it doesn't send any more emails.

Now that you've actually posted something you're clearly logged in, so you should be back "in the loop".

Registration date is key for the promotion. He absolutely must register by the 14th or you'll have to hope someone at IK is feeling generous to fix him up. (If he didn't buy from esoundz it's possible he's already too late. :-o )

I do not know how long after registration you have to make your choices. I have to assume that it's 30 days after the end of the promotion, not after your individual registration, because otherwise folks that registered early in the group buy would have gotten screwed out of their 6x1, 7x1, and 8x1 choices. So you should have until July 5 or July 13, depending on what exactly the official end date is. But I'd say the sooner the better, to be safe.

Indeed, I'm back in the loop. :-) Weird how that happens.

It's happened to me a couple of times during this thread.

Does anyone know if the "Acoustic Drums 2" multi-sampled soundpack is multi-out compatible?

Or:
Can I route single instruments (like snare, bass drum, hi hat etc.) to separated tracks in my sequenzer?

In order to do what you want with that pack, you'd have to load it several times into different channels in Sampletank. Then use MIDI to use the parts you want.

So, load Acoustic Set into slots 1-4 in Sampletank. Then on Ch. 1, use the snares, on Ch. 2 use the kick, etc.

There are no separate drum kit piece patches that you can load.

I *think* one of the extra packs from Esoundz has this capability (Drum Capsule perhaps?)...I can't recall the name.

Okay... still working on mapping XpansionTank modules to the respective RAW and ReTank modules. (This will be important to anyone considering buying more loops sets using the XPANDMORE code...)

(per Squids:) the Up Tempo XpansionTank module is material that is on the Drum n Bass ReTank module. The Down Tempo XPansionTank is material that is on the Trip Hop ReTank.

Squids - in that case, if the Trip Hop ReTank/RAW library became the Down Tempo XPansionTank set, what went into the Trip Hop XPansionTank?

Also, what is the Urban Grooves ReTank, and what (if any) XPansionTank modules include its sounds? (FYI - there's an error on the esoundz web site- the product listing for Urban Grooves erroneously shows the details for the Trip Hop package.)

Sorry for the series of questions, but even at half off we wouldn't be happy if we bought ReTank titles only to find they're the same packs that we just bought under different names in XPansionTank form. Mapping that stuff out would be very helpful.

Thanks for your reply.

You're right, I thought about that solution as well. Is doesn't seem to be a sweet workaround, more a bit tweaky. Hmmm ...

And you think that "Capsule" or "Studiophonik" drums DO have this feature? Shit, I just choose the bass pack from downloadablesounds.com (not the drums).

Maybe I could contact Allen about this.... or Squids would chime in with some clarification. We'll see ....

The Studio Drums Capsule has:
1)GM Kits (these are in the Acoustic Tank from the GB) - each kit is one preset and all pieces are on same key map
2)I-Map kits - each kit is one preset and all pieces are on same key map
3)each piece from each kit available separately in both GM and I-map mappings. With these you can send to separate audio outs and\or mix and match pieces from different kits.
The separate pieces also have more velocity levels.

The ability to build your own kits from those individual elements is the main selling feature for the Studio Drums Capsule. The drum sounds ended up being included in the Acoustic Drums 2 set in the group buy, but that set does NOT have the individual elements to make your own kits.

The bad news: the Studio Drums Capsule is NOT listed as part of the XPANDMORE coupon code. And the esoundz web site appears to be down at the moment, so I don't know offhand what the regular price would be.

The good news: it IS one of the esoundz bonus choice options from the group buy. So if you really want it, a great way to get it would be to re-join the group buy in the esoundz extension and take it as your +1 bonus. (The obvious advantage is that you'd get 8 more sets from IK as extra freebies.)

You've probably already seen these spreadsheets... but in case you haven't, some of the comparisons are here:

I would also like to know from Squids why the construction kits Modern Tech Rap and Up Tempo Electronic do not have Menu Maps which match the Loop Slices. Is it possible you could update these packs to that they are properly matched. It is a bit disappointing not to have them matching as they do in the other construction kits. Was this a mistake, an oversite, or what? I think updating these packs would be a good thing to do so that there is a consistency to these kind of packs.
MountainKing wrote:And you think that "Capsule" or "Studiophonik" drums DO have this feature? Shit, I just choose the bass pack from downloadablesounds.com (not the drums).
Squids mentioned that Studiophonik will be released this month. I have a feeling that you might be able to get all the Studiophonik content (drums, bass and guitars) at a nice GB rate in the very near future.

The link I included above also has a comparison of the content of the Studio Drums Capsule and Acoustic Drums 2 if you want to see the specifics.

And another great reason to get the Studio Drums Capsule, is that it comes in Kontakt format as well. I started using the drum kits and individual kit pieces in Kontakt and was blown away by the cool variations I could create using the Convolution reverb in Kontakt and other effects. I am planning to save my favorite individual kit pieces in a way which will allow me to use them in combination with Drum Masters 2 kits so that I can create some cool hybrid kits.

SampleTank3 is supposed to have Convolution Reverb, and that will totally breath new life into a lot of different instruments, the drums included. But being able to use your favorites in Kontakt (for the time being) is a nice bonus!

Peter - shouldn't that be "Then I wait until the 29th of JUNE to choose my free 7 Xpansion Tanks" ?
