As far as my poor language understanding is - is this the "opposite" of something? It's more a transformation by relative movement and doppler is also always, not sometimes...

ah... I detect bullshit. Your one-word answer for the distinction or difference, music v noise: "structure". If you now say you repudiate that, that's acceptable. You walked it back some already.AKJ wrote:I did not say everything that has structure is music. The question was what is the difference between music and noise and that is indeed structure. The difference between animal communication and music would be different although to some various kinds of animal communication is indeed music.Ogg Vorbis wrote:Language and animal communication has structure. A dripping faucet has structure too, I guess.AKJ wrote:structure
Who defines this magical idea "structure", you? See, you I don't trust necessarily.
"the difference between animal communication & music" BS detector = VERY HIGH now.
Say a dog is howling at some trumpet, like this dog in my neighborhood done when I practiced. Every time, doggie found out about some sounds in the right register, and come over to jam. What's the dog's "intent"? Make some sounds along with the other very exciting sounds, in time?
hmmmm...

There are musical pieces that use animal sounds as musical elements.
Jamming with pets sounds interesting. Finally do you always understand a human musicians intention just by listening?...
[Add:] ...or less theoretical, ever kept an e guitar player silent in rehearsal breaks for more than 5 seconds? ...and what does this tell us?
How to decide if something you perceive is created intentional?
There is a nice thread about computer assisted composition that shows that many composition is just evolution and modification from things done before and that computers can do similar results exceeding abilities of about 99% of people...
That's frustrating but it seems to be true if you listen to these "compositions". So the spark of "creativity" seems to be less important for a lot of music.

That you have had particular experiences and extrapolate that into the general in an effort to make a 'guitarists' joke? Who knows.TiUser wrote: Finally do you always understand a human musicians intention just by listening?...[Add:] ...or less theoretical, ever kept an e guitar player silent in rehearsal breaks for more than 5 seconds? ...and what does this tell us?
99% of people can't do shit. So what.

'That shows...' Sounds like *some bullshit* to me.

Todays's music is noise
Sampling rapping lego brick stitching together rubbish.
Today's noise is like a childs wind up toy and the money moguls are laughing all the way to the bank!!! Sub bass should only be for films or getting back at your neighbour!!! The masses will suffer a tinitus old age. AAAAY!!!!
Bring back decent live groups like ELO, ELP, SANTANA,FLOYD,CAMEL FOCUS,WHO etc
NOW THAT IS MUSIC

1. I love guitarists jokes - and the guitarists I met were all that way - no joke
2. The shortest musicians joke I know? "Three musicians are passing by a pub..."
3. If I find the thread and article link about computer assisted composition again I will post it here. It's really interesting. If you think remixes are creative or reusing and modifying beats, licks and phrases you liked then this is exactly what will give you the right bump. It's not denied that there is creativity but just to a low degree - probably really just 1%. The rest is made from stuff already known and created before. The gifted musicians use a huge personal repertoire of musical experiences for new composition and putting there 1% genius on top. It's simply as with everything, 1% inspiration, 99% transpiration...

But can anyone produce music with Cubase? Or---mmmm----FLStudio? Throwing a Molotov in here-----TiUser wrote:Still remains the question if MAGIX creates noise or music...dodokvr wrote:Apparently the difference is MAGIX Samplitude 11 Producer.
I guess one can produce good music with either one really. The only problem is that I'm finding out that most of what I took as "received knowledge" is not so definite as I thought.
Take microtonal music---how'd that get to be "seen" as music? Or, "Rite of Spring"? ---crikey--that still sets off riots in some places for pete sake
Or the progression between Baroque music and what is today's classical music--our hearing/perceiving changed summat I'd be thinking--- We are more used to "noise" perhaps?
