Hey I'm using the Kontakt Player 4.1 update and trying to get the background loading feature working with ultimate studio drums 1 with no success so far. I was able to get SSD EX to work with background loading its really , maybe I'm doing something wrong? anyone else this feature with their groupbuy kits?

Worked for me when I resaved the multi. Not sure if you can do that in Player version.

weird , it works fine with the steven slate drums ex and each of those kits are almost twice as large as the group buy stereo kits.

Most of the time that Ultimate Studio Drums needs to load is due to all the scripting that it incorporates. That new feature in Kontakt 4.1 doesn't affect this, I think.

The samples load quick as they are supposed to with the new feature. But then sonic reality's scripting kicks in and their is a lag for like 30 sec. I noticed this the even before the update came out and thought that something was wrong, but Squids clarified this for me.

I've complained several times about this feature. Native -quick, SSD -quick, big instruments -all super quick with this update.

Sonic Reality -SLOW.

Of course at this point someone (probably Squids) is going to pop up and say that the sounds have all these features like effects, round robin, randomization and other details possible that make them super complicated, to which I'll reply: Just get the full version of Kontakt, and all came be done within it.

So my plea to Sonic Reality; make me some ultimate drums presets without all the extra junk that causes the scripts to load so slowly. Copy SSD or Native or any number of other sound developers and get away from your maddeningly slow "method".

What sounds do you think are going to get used more with this new Kontakt update? The one that takes 2 seconds to load or try out, or the one you have to wait for?

Maybe I'll put this post in its own thread.

thanks for the responses guys, I remember script loading was mentioned during the groupbuys as the reason for the long loading, i thought i remembered that there was a kontakt update that would remedy it , oh well not the end of the world though

No need to do a whole new thread. Here's your response:

Some of the lag time issue may be from trying to keep it compatible with both Kontkat 3.5 and 4.1 users (so we can still support Mac Power PC users... but it looks like we may have to drop 3.5 support soon since everyone else is unfortunately). It is possible that doing a 4.1-only version will decrease the load times for the script. So we'll experiment with this and if it proves to be the case then we'll provide a free update.

The mapping functionality was requested by many people so we could accommodate both keyboardists and e-Drummers. Some sound companies don't even allow their Kontakt Player products to be opened by Kontakt's mapping editor at all. At least we do. But we provide a variety of mapping functions on the interface including a custom map with midi learn for most people's needs. If one does want to go under the hood it is actually consistent at least, but just a different map. Each articulation is in order and is mapped on C-2 then G# then E then C again, G# again, E etc. (with the alts chromatic within those intervals). The only reason this isn't mentioned is because we don't intend for people to be remapping the samples in the full version of Kontakt and possibly messing up the script functions and everything else... but if you want to you can since editing isn't locked.

Please understand there are differences in opinions and also different needs. For instance, one person can complain about the extra 30 seconds of load time from a script while another person begs us to do MORE velocities and alts or mic channels which takes possibly MINUTES longer to load... then there will be people that complain about that too. Can't please everyone! But we're willing to do our best and we do listen to our users to come up with the best overall decisions. It took a LOT of work to do these scripts and have all of these functions. We'll do our best to make them load as fast as Kontakt will allow without sacrificing the features people have asked for.
