Steveo has a new love and sends Mac to the tower? Frankly it's ok with me and BTW I would like to have logic back after the beheading. Probably not any time soon but we're starting to hear things .....

I just want SoundDiver. Yea, I know, good luck on that.

RIP, Newsweek, if this is the kind of inane drivel you favour these days.

Hmmm... you still need a Mac to write appz for iPhade?!?

That is a pisser. I don't think it was ever released as an Apple product. Probably decided it was too much trouble to deal with and all those hardware users weren't going to buy Macs to run SoundDriver anyway. BTW I recently went looking for a AW2 driver and it's no longer on Apples site.

Good point. If the world is going mobile and big hardware is going to be replaced by low powered mobile devices then real computers for development will become specialty items and cost lots of cash.

I suspect that suits Jobs just fine. We can't just let anyone with a good idea be an Apples developer.

Just cause he didn't talk about something (mac's or osx) does not mean nothings being done on it.
The wise words, "It's not what's said, but what isn't said" come to mind here.
You (tomg) or the snide, yuppy looking writer of that useless article, have done nothing even close to help in computer development, than Apple has.
You should thank Apple for giving you Windows 7, as you wouldn't have it without Apple.

well, maybe it would have just been named 'Vista beta 6.9'
If its got a curly tail, a fat ass, and a short flat nose, its WindowsXXX :hihi:

They gave me win7 free but I'm still running XP. I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that I have invested much more money in Apple than you have overall. I still have 3 real Macs. I mean real Mac computers not pretty PCs running something called MacOS that's really just another PC OS.

I've had 4.
Whatever...it's just that competition in the market can't hurt, but only help.
So why go on with the anti-mac campaign threads, as if Steve is satan and all, when you clearly can see a benefit of the competition in business, and how it relates to helping Microsoft become a better company.
Apple isn't flawless, but it's good enough to be in competition with Microsoft.
There only flaw imo, is price. Everything else seems to be fine to me, with my macs. Although I did have a soundcard issue on my last pb g4 before.
No system is flawless though.

Is it just me or does 90% of the population have ADD now and expect an update every month?

"Oh no, my precious blank is dead because there's not an update this month!"

What's funny is that people choose to still run XP and those same people bitch about wanting updates. :dog:

But... that's just what I have left. I bought a ][+ , (2) ][c's and a ][e. For a short time I had a ][gs and I've gone through several Macs including a Classic, II and a 030 SE. I've got two Blackbirds and a Quadra left. I don't even want to think about the total.

I dislike Apple because they stole something precious from me and tried to blackmail me into buying a computer I didn't want to get it back. They have always been arrogant and condescending but that was the final straw.

You do know that Foxconn (ipad iphone, mac mini) also make computers for Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Sony, the Wii and the Xbox among others? Inventec (macbooks) also builds for Hewlett-Packard, Toshiba, Acer, and Fujitsu.

The only thing special about a Mac anymore is the premium you pay to be tied to a controlled, limited software market that they may discontinue or pull out from under you without warning anytime. I've seen them do it. I'll never trust them again.

I don't go out of my way to bash Apple but I don't pass up too many opportunities if they come along.

Me? The only updates I bitch about are the forced ones that break my OS. I don't just blindly install anything that comes down the pike. I let all updates age some. If you are talking about Logic then ... Well yeah. I'm guilty. It's not like I'm ever going to get it though. :hihi:

Cant let you away with that one - You have BSD (Berkeley Software Distribution) to thank for OSX 10.x :-)
Apple "adopted" it and added Aqua GUI on top.
Xerox came up up the idea of a mouse controlled GUI. Apple comes along and adopts it as they do most things. Apple didnt give us Windows 7 attall. Before OSX, OS9 was developed by Microware Systems Corporation. Apple are a marketing company, they dont invent.
