IL VST plugs crash SONAR v8.5.3 (64-bit bitbridge)

I've had problems with a number of Image-Line plugins, running in SONAR 8.5.3's bitbridge -- Harmless, Sytrus, and Drumaxx all leave chunks (usually the selected preset) from the preset browser window on the screen until SONAR is completely shut-down. Also, once an Image-Line VST (confirmed with Harmless, Drumaxx, and Sytrus) is inserted into a project and saved, the project can no longer be opened in SONAR (SONAR simply hangs on opening while trying top open the bridged plug) unless you open SONAR in safe mode and disable all of the IL plugs. I've seen similar posts on the Image-Line forums where other SONAR v8.5.3 users have had these same two issues. From my experience, only Image-Line plug-ins have either problem.
I've tried the jbridge demo, but I'm not sure if there's a checkbox I'm missing in the settings screens. Whenever I try to play Harmless (for example) using jbridge, the audio stutters and then drops out. I'd be all right with buying jbridge, but my experience with it playing nice with the IL plugs has not been successful.
Any thoughts?

Likewise, I have had to stop using the Image-Line plugins in SONAR (and also Cubase) when they are being bridged... which is a shame.
( by the way, the Cakewalk devs seem to be quite friendly and open to dialog with 3rd-party developers - do ImageLine have any contacts there? )
The only other solution I guess is, sadly, dependant on Borland adding 64bit support to Delphi.

as a Sonar 8.53 x64 user & enthusiast, i have found that my IL plugs (Vocodex & Sawer) need jBridge to function. i haven't tried to use my FL 9.1 as a plugin within Sonar, but i would guess jBridge would be needed to do that as well.

wetdentist: Unfortunately, like DrApostropheX, I'm having issues with audio stuttering with jBridge and plugins like Harmless, etc.
This is on an AMD X4 Phenom II 965 which shouldn't be having these kinds of issues. ( and these plugins are fine in their native 32bit environments )
I don't have Vocodex or Sawer, so maybe they're okay when bridged.
Also, ParametricEQ2 (which I really like), doesn't show it's spectrum background in BitBridge.

it is tough responding to issues regarding IL software because many comments that point out problems are met with a barrage of "you are wrong" from the IL people. it is best just to say that everything works perfectly

A lot of our plugins indeed don't work in Sonar or Cubase 64bit. It's something I'm looking at, but it's not made any easier by the fact that Cubase doesn't seem to actually load the plugin before relegating it to its blacklist.

For what it's worth, I've found the cause of the freeze when loading a Sonar file that has Sytrus VSTi, so it should be fixed in the next version.
Now it freezes when you delete it from the instrument rack, though.

Slow and steady progress is progress none-the-less! Thank you for your continued investigation. It really is much appreciated!reflex wrote:For what it's worth, I've found the cause of the freeze when loading a Sonar file that has Sytrus VSTi, so it should be fixed in the next version.

About Cubase: Steinberg have told me there's a bug in the way they determine if a plugin is 32 or 64 bit. They're checking out possible solutions.

I more or less know where it freezes in Sonar now, but I don't know the actual cause yet.

For what it's worth, I did get the IL plugs working fine using jbridge. And I haven't run into any problems using Reaper's own bitbridge.

Hi reflex, did you find out anything new about the Blacklist issue in Cubase? Just tried the new Cubase 5.5 64bit Update and basically all plugins from the Juice Pack plus a few more like Slicex, Autogun, Ogun, Edison, Wasp get blacklisted.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Cubase 5.5 was compiled before Steinberg were aware of the issue. So I guess it will be fixed in a future update.
