For those who want more great sounds for Z3a+ i would recommend to get Kire's excellent soundbanks which are free.

http://www.kiresounds.se/catalog.2.html

There are 3Banks. Just use the Arrow to the right to get to next bank.

More than pretty cheap. Compared to the price way back when, before Cakewalk acquired rgc:audio, this is a fabulous price for a great instrument.

The Trancemania bank has the wrong link.

Simply replace "Commericaltrance.zip" with "Trancemania.zip" in the download link to get the 3rd bank.

The difference way back when, I guess, is that they were still paying out to develop it. Now it's been put on the "legacy" shelf, they can charge what they want for it.

Interestingly, they were throwing in Rapture in with a Sonar 8.5 upgrade offer some time back. Could mean that would be bundled with Sonar this year as well. 8)
When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

Excellent synth. A steal at $20. I bought it 7 years ago and still love it as much as the first day I got it. Just be aware that with the latest version you can't use the extra banks available on the internet without having to tweak the presets. You have to change the oversampling setting for many of those presets as well as sometimes disable the limiter to hear those presets. I reverted to the older version of Zeta which is not available from Cakewalk. That older version opens all presets just fine.
Play it by ear

Same here. Called them an they gave me the serial right over teh phone. So I suggest anyone facing this situation just call 'em. :)

I know that's a common explanation for pricing, but Z3TA+ didn't have a long development cycle after release, and hasn't been updated in many years. I think prices have come down overall to deal with a changed marketplace with or without development. Still, $20 is almost like getting this plug-in for free. :)

There is a trick to fix this. Download and install the Demo (which IS version 1.4). Save the bank using that version. The new bank will then work correctly in 1.5.3.

I bow down to your knowledge on this, and it is indeed a great bargain! But now that it looks like that Rapture, Z3TAs successor, will follow the same path, I'm wondering where Cakewalk are going with all this. They haven't produced any new standalone instrument in a long time.

Either they're winding down the synth arm as a source of revenue (there's been a lot of hardware released recently), or something major is about to be released...
When all else fails, read the instruction manual.

Cakewalk sent a survey the other week to some users asking about features for Rapture II....so I don't think Rapture is going down the same path.

OK, I missed that. It just felt ominous that Rapture was bundled in the recent upgrade offer. But then again Rene did say that as Z3TA's successor, Rapture would continue to be developed (unlike Z3TA).

Good news, anyway. Thanks!
