is an emulation of the Korg Poly 800 mk,II. Version 2.2 sports a natty powder-blue and black interface and should sound better than the last version - it also includes automation for the 'joystick'

Note : See the Read Me. You need to get 3 additional 'objects' from other sites and put them in 'Library - Application Support – Cycling74 - Pluggo Support – Bonus Externs'. This actual location isn't mentioned in the ReadMe.
That one also seems to need TapTools.

OK, I’ve been testing out some still-OS9-only pluggos in OSX. This test was based on someone's note in a thread on OSX audio.com - he said he got some working in OSX by using the PLUGMAKER app that comes with the Pluggo demo/full version.

** I also found that with most of the plugs below you don’t even need to put them through Plugmaker, so they should work fine even just with the Runtime app installed, i.e. just grab the OS9 versions and put them into the VST-Pluggos folder**

Like Kubia said, the ones that don’t require 3rd party externals work fine.

I collected some 3rd party externals for others, but found that wherever you put them, they’re still not recognised from the plug – no surprise as they’re all different locations from the OS9 versions.

Also - I'm testing these in Protools - having a quick look at the AU versions in RAX, having run the Pluggo AU scan, I'm not sure they're all making it there - maybe someone else can test this.

****************************************************************************************************

ANYWAY …. Here’s some ones you can just download and install as VST/AU/RTAS(as long as you’ve got at least the Runtime app installed as per instructions earlier in this thread).

I haven’t tested all plugs from these sites, but have noted the non-working ones I HAVE tried :

****************************************************************************************************

** Matt Lyons’ ones from http://postsomnia.com/

Image

FILTERED STATE is a nice fancy front end to up to four stereo pairs of MSP's svf~ Chamberlin style state variable filters. It has LowPass, HiPass, BandPass and BandStop outputs, and a resonance control. You can specify the filters' cutoff frequency by either note, midi number, or frequency. “

Image

OHCE is a reverse echo maker.
It is NOT a delay, but you could use it like one. When its big button is pressed, it receives non-zero automation data for parameter one, or it receives a note-on or sustain-on midi message, it begins recording, for up to 15 seconds (host memory allowing). When the button is released, it receives a zero for the automation data for parameter one, or it receives a note-off of sustain-release midi message, it begins playing back what it recorded, backwards. The modwheel can control this process as well. If it is in the process of playing back and you start it recording again, it will cease playback. It also features a varispeed control for playback of the recorded material, which can be controlled with pitch bend midi messages or parameter 2.”

****************************************************************************************************

** Tobor Experiment’s ones from http://gleetchplug.ienproject.com/

Image

MALESTROM is a Morphing Convolution and Ring Modulator
This plugin requires 2 mono audio signals as inputs.
The first audio file is the CARRIER and the second is the MODULATOR (often a voice).
To oversimplify :
* its MORPHING function works similar to a VOCODER in that one sound picks up the characteristics of the other.
* Its RING MODULATION function can produces synthesised tones modulated by the source audio.

Note – The screenshots for the NEXT TWO below are from my OS9 versions. They both work fine but the background jpeg is missing from each, which doesn’t affect the plug’s operations

Image

D-RIVE Is an overdrive simulator.”

Image

SONIC REDUCER is a sample rate and bitsize reducer with a graphical multimode 2 pole filter.”

My note : i LOVE this plug-in. make sure you set a filter type to something other than "display" first of all otherwise it sounds a bit dulled. Samplerate reduction is subtle and great when used in combination with the filter. Only downside is that you can't automate filter settings or get your host to remember them (which you can with the sample rate and bitsize reduction).

Note - Not working : Therevox

****************************************************************************************************

** Wheat’s (Dan Shannon) ones from http://www.angelfire.com/sd2/wheat//

Image

DELAY-O-RAMA is a really simple plugin:
2 separate short delay lines that can have the time modulated.”

My note: great for metallic, electro type sounds

Note : Wheat’s ones not working due to missing externals : Mungrainer, Guadalupe, Combernation

******************************************************************************************************

** Greg Davis’ ones from http://gdavis.dyndns.org/plugins.html/
Site down just at this moment

Note : I’ve only tested certain ones from here (there’s 33), because back in the OS9 days I found that Greg’s plugs had some conflicting identifier #’s with several of these, and they would “replace” names of each other in the Protools inserts list. They would all be fine if you put them in the Pluggos folder one-at-a-time.

Anyway, I’ve just tested the ones I found not to have this problem :

Working :
Degrader, Multiplier, Piler, ShepRingMod

Not working :
Fothermucker, Tapey (need externals); Vocoder (crashes Protools when plugged in)

Hi folks -
Make sure you grab v0.3 of jk's Philter.
He's added MIDI control, so you can sweep or tap the gain/reduction of the frequency on your MIDI keyboard - great for rhythmically altering frequency on a loop! Two modes, so you can either map the whole frequency range across four octaves, or have more subtle changes. love it :D

(see earlier in this thread on how to set up (free) Pluggo Runtime so you can set this up as a VST, AU or RTAS effect).

hi pantsdown666

thanks for this thread!!!

do you have any idea when wheat's pluggos will be ported? waiting for mungrainer.... should I contact the author?

wowow!

now that´s a report .. top stuff, pantsdown. :)
I´ll try these ..

cheers

hi Steph -
I mailed most of the 3rd party developers to see of they were planning to port to OSX. Wheat isn't sure when he's going to OSX himself, so I guess not in a hurry. Same as Matt Lyon - says he hasn't got a working mac at the moment! Tobor Experiment says probably March sometime.

hi Putte -
even more encouragement to go OSX :D

I mailed wheat..

anyway, I've been having some trouble getting the externals for polyX here on the macs at school. since I already have the externals for the os9 version at home, do you know if I have to get a osX version of any of those to get polyX working?

thanks.......

Re PolyIII Ok, as Tennesee Vic notes above, you also need the OSX TapTools (which are available as shareware from http://www.sp-intermedia.com/taptoolsmax/index.html. You need to install them and put the TapTools.lib file into your Library/CFMSupport folder (when I did the installation, it just put that file onto the system disk).

As for the other three objects :

* This one needs to be an OSX version :

S&Hi : Download the SH objects from
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/gmem/recherche/ ... rnals.html

* The other two are still the OS9 ones :

Ladd by Peter Elsea (download 'Lobjects_classic.sea.Hqx' from ftp://arts.ucsc.edu/pub/ems/lobjects/ to find it )

I've updated the ReadMe files to give correct info about 3rd party objects and changed Freeverb so you don't need the 'ubumenu' object.
More coming shortly, and I'll try to work out some better way of dealing with 3rd party objects,
cheers

Thanks for the news Roger, i've updated my post about your plugs to reflect this.

Hi again all -
If you go back up to the third post on the page (my long one), you'll see I've added Tobor Experiment's Malestrom (morphing convolution and ring modulator) as another one that's working.

Thanks Dr Wackler :D

OK, as soon as I posted about MALESTROM (above), I got an email from Tobor Experiment that he'd made a new OS9 pluggo called COSMO .

Unfortunately it won't work in OSX until he ports it properly, because it requires the 3rd party external munger~from the Percolate collection.

Image

from http://gleetchplug.ienproject.com/

"Cosmo is a very special plugin that will allow users to obtain huge stratified pads & drones from any non-rythmic sources. It is composed by two major DSPs. At first there is a 3 bands spectral delay (with 3 feedback lines)
then the signal flows into a granulator. Try presets and experiment with different settings."

If any of you still run OS9 occasionally (Putte!) , this sounds great (will work as VST or RTAS, as long as you've got the OS9 Runtime going and the Percolate objects found in the "PeRColate 0.9 beta 3 for Max 4" link from http://www.music.columbia.edu/PeRColate/

Steph - you'll be into this one :)

Post

OK, here's another OS9-Pluggo-works-fine-under-OSX candidate :

** victor cerullo's VET-1 synth from http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/16tone/

i.e. you need to join the yahoo group to get this one , it's in the Files section : 'VET1_Pluggo_Synth_21.sit '

Image

VET-1 - a 12-voice polyphonic VST-MAS-RTAS dynamic morphing oscillator wavetable synthesizer plug-in for Cycling '74 Pluggo 3 Runtime, featuring dynamic voice allocation, 88 basic single-cycle waveforms and 2 user-editable morphing waveforms. Includes a tuning selector for any integer or fractional equal division of the octave (EDO) in the 5-98 EDO range and an "EDO warp LFO" feature that can be used to modulate the octave divisor in order to obtain special detuning effects ("variable temperament").”

I wasn't initially taken with many of the 32 presets on this - MS20 and other Korg emulations etc. , ring mod things and so on ......

*BUT* then I clicked on the "View" button (see above), and got into the 47 parameters , all of which are explained when you hold the mouse over them .
Check this out :

Then I really had fun playing with this one, it's tweaker heaven. Much more info (about Morphing Oscillator Synthesis and Dynamic Morphing) in the ReadMe.

Getting it:
Join yahoo group at http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/16tone/
It's in the Files section : 'VET1_Pluggo_Synth_21.sit '

Good News
- This works fine in OS9 and OSX Protools under the Pluggo Runtime RTAS.
- Dropped it on Plugmaker and then the VST version was fine (Lone Roger's app "VSTshell".
Bad News
Ran Pluggo AU scan but it didn't appear in RAX - maybe someone else can try a different AU app and report back.
Edit :
Good News again
From another user : "I just did the test again and VET-1 works fine OMM as Audio Unit with Rax (a bit slow to mount up) and SynTest, and as VST and AU both in DSP-Quattro X."
