These are really well done, I dare say some are 'best of Synth1 ' class!
So I think you should make a separate topic from this thread. Its
not boastful to announce sharing something this nice. I'm only half through,
and the nice surprises just keep coming 8) Thankyou! :)

Wow! Thanks Glokraw. :)

Yes I'd have to say a fine bunch of patches hakey. Some exquisite tones and great basses. Thanks so much for the great work.LK

Never actually thought I'd see synth1 updated but still kept a small glimmer of hope!

Pretty amazing, I use it all the time.

I made some new tracks using just Synth1 and nothing else, you can listen to them here.

Starbeam

and here's the previous track I made last week, a high school type theme.

High School

All made using the free Synth1 vst and all free effects.
I think I layered quite a few instances.

I managed to make a nice polymoog sound yesterday, sounds excellent.

I'm still using the old version of Synth1, I haven't updated to the latest one.

Will updating to the latest one alter any patches i've created?

Patches that use FM, RM, or Sync can sound very different - it's most pronounced with FM.

It's still worth updating for the mod matrix (it's not quite a full mod matrix, but useful nonetheless), sub osc, osc phase, improved delay, preset management etc...

Hi I have just uploaded a new 128 patch bank for synth 1 called LK-Monstronomo here on kvr. Rhythmic pads arps and experimental things. Hard Ambient. Have fun with these.LK

bugger. Can't use the new version because it requires SSE2 :(

Well get in touch with the new hardware. SSE2 makes a lot of things easier. Not to mention multicores. ;)

I agree.. SSE2 is long in the tooth.. I think they're up to SSE4.1 or so at this point.. AMD has had SSE2 support since 2003 in their processor lines (A64/Turion64), The low end Celeron, and even Atom! processors have SSE2 support.. shouldn't be hard to find a budget system these days with support for SSE2. The bonus is you're likely to get a system with Multi-cores too and a load of memory. win-win.

well at least now I won't have to update the synth every time a new version comes out. Maybe I'll even get around to making some music instead of trying new plugins all the time :)

Big fan of Synth1 been using it for years, it's my go to/bread and butter synth.

100% stable and the CPU useage is unbeatable.

Just randomly decided to check if there was an update today and lord help me there is!! my previous version is 1.07 alpha from 2005. :o

Anyway, looking for some help in regards to it and Cubase.

I save my presets using the function in Cubase(Load Preset/Save Preset) above the VST, my presets are still there but when I load a project with the new VST it reverts the sound back to the initial preset sounds like when you first load the synth. Also, some of the presets don't load.

Is this how it is or have I missed something? I ran the regini.exe in my vst folder but it basically said there was no info in my registry(correct, copied old vst folder onto a new format of windows)

I suppose I could revert back to a pre 1.11 version and save all the presets in synth1 but still, maybe there's another way?

Thanks.

the problem has been discussed somewhere inside this topic, if you can read patiently you'll likely find a workaround to it...

Not quite clear if your project doesn't load synth1 settings on startup or when loading the fxp, but maybe better for old projects to have the old dll still installed beside the new one?

I know the old version would sometimes not load patches properly in DAW projects, but that seems to be cured with the new one.

Anyway, the way it works now, (1.12 is the latest not 1.11 as you said) all the bankfolders (folders containing all the .sy1) are in a parent folder (you can have them anywhere) and then in \Documents and Settings\yourusername\Daichi\Synth1\synth1.ini the paths to them are set.

Adding new bankfolders is then just a matter of placing them in the master folder and making a new line in the synth.ini.
