I mean, its really comparable in terms of audio quality? it sounds as good?
The DSP used is not that of AmpliTube 3 but created by the same team, with the same attention to detail and sound. It is coded from scratch to have the best possible performance/sound for the platform.
Yeah, but how much ram does each instance use?

Kidding...kidding...I'm very excited about this. If we order tomorrow, how long will it take to get the hardware? How does that process work? If my hardware connector breaks, would I be able to get another?

Do you NEED headphones to hear the iRig?

Post

Interesting that some of the comments are by people saying they used their own adapters (not iRig)

You need something plugged in as the audio will be routed there, not the speakers when iRig is enabled.

Peter:

Does the interface cable (which sells for $39.99) also include the IRIG software or is the software a separate purchase?

Todd the Trademark Lawyer.

The app is a separate purchase. There is a free version, and you can add to it a la carte as you wish too via in-app purchases.

Purchased the full version and picked up the PRS Guitarbud cable to tide me over until IRIG comes out. I'm having trouble setting levels. The guitar seems to be overdriving the iPad and iPhone inputs. Even turning down the amps gain overdrives the input. Does Irig have a built in pad or is there another way to control input level.

I can't say what that interface does to be honest. Do the included audio samples also overdrive it? If not, I'd say it is the adapter you are using - we do respect the competition but I can't say we're really knowledgeable on that product of theirs. I do recall some issues with gain on their stuff but I do not know if it was due to the adapter or the app or both. There's no input gain slider (so no +6dB complaints on this one! I kid...) on AmpiTube for iPhone.

Very cool Sound On Sound video from NAMM, the actual unit played live on the NAMM floor (and there's more exciting NAMM news about iRig coming soon): http://www.soundonsound.com/news?NewsID=12952

I was lucky enough to test out the iRig last week. Here's my review:

It's pretty sweet.

PS... forgive my ugly link (I don't have 5 posts yet). Don't worry though, I'm not a bot, I'm a dyed in the wool pro audio addict. I live and breathe and eat and drink pro audio day and night. Here's the link again, in a non-clickable, more copy and paste friendly style:

Thanks Peter! I've been hanging out with photographers long enough that it's beginning to rub off on me.

Best,
Sam
