nope. i tried to make my virus folder look like the one in the video. i got a blank screen in mini host. i then moved everything but the dll from steinberg vst to the cakewalk folder in a new virus folder. that just loads the original z3ta. can someone post the instructions for the default installation of z3ta in vista? the dll's are in steinberg's vst folder while the folder's are in cakewalk's folders

By doing a mix and match of all the info, I got it to work. Thank you.
The install instructions that come with the V2 of the mod mention a "presets" folder.. when in reality you have to create a new program folder and put the default bank there (which the other instructions mention.. lol)
Anyway, up and running!

omg, is the virus mod even worth it?
ok, really, who's made this work with the default install of 1.5.3.0, and how did you do it?
btw, what's up with the invisible keyboard?

this thing needs a "disable delay" too
i took a quick look at one of those 8bit sounds to find out how to improve the quality. i couldn't find the 8 bit cause before the artifacts required me to back off. how is it done, and why was it done?
yes, i'm playing with 2x quality
EDIT: oic, the quality setting isn't global
surely there has to be a way to set quality on global as many sounds are crap without oversampling
EDIT: there's a render quality select in the "master" panel. i'm not hearing a difference in real time. it also changes from preset to preset. maybe i don't understand the definition of the word "master"
EDIT: oversampling isn't fixing some of the 8 bit presets
EDIT: i can't find the options>quality mentioned in the docs. you'd think there'd at least be an entry sating, "we left out the options>quality section because we didn't want you to be disappointed when you found out it doesn't work like you want it to".
rant: i know, no one else leaves a note either. it's up to us to drag the admission of a product's limitations out of support. why don't software people just admit they can't do what we need? i'm sure there were plenty of people telling devs what features were missing on many launches. they should just say "dear user, this much needed feature is beyond my ability as a programmer." (i did hear from a dev that he'd lost the source code since he got rid of pc for mac) now, there's a potential market. those poor mac users get scraps))

Anyone know if Z3TA+ will run on a 64 bit system? I have 32 and 64 bit versions of Cubase installed, but plan on eventually using only the 64 bit version. Will it show up under this?

Hey android love.
This is what I did:
You just need to "cut" everything from Program files>Cakewalk>Z3ta+ and paste into
VSTpLugin folder>Z3ta+. (Create this new Z3ta+ folder in your vst folder if it doesn't exist already).
Put the 3 z3ta+ dll files in this folder if they aren't already there along with the other folders. Nopw everything is in one folder, in your VST plugin folder.
This folder now contains all Z3ta+ related folders and files (The arpeggios folder, Waveforms, etc..) as well as the .dll files
Now that you have this folder in your VST plugin folder, copy it and rename the copy to virus_Z3ta+. This is your new virus_z3ta+ folder. The only one you'll be messing with from now on.
Copy all the virus mod stuff over to this folder, overwriting the current stuff. Create a new folder named Programs and put the default virus Mod fxb bank in there. Delete the 4 user thingies the manual refers to (I'm going by memory, sorry), rename the dll to virus_z3ta (see official instructions for specific way to rename.). ( I deleted the FX dll's here as I will only use the official Z3ta+ fx dll's).
Does it work now?
Side note: The stuff that you cut from Program files>Cakewalk>Z3ta seems to repopulate itself anyway the next time you start Z3ta+. But everything is working

any ideas about making oversampling global? any ideas about what causes some presets to sound 8 bit?

There are several banks I found more useful available elsewhere.
not in this universe, but z3ta still workspheeleep wrote:Side note: The stuff that you cut from Program files>Cakewalk>Z3ta seems to repopulate itself anyway the next time you start Z3ta+.

i appreciate it. the only difference from what i was doing was the moving of the cakewalk>z3ta files. i seem to remember something about deleting 1 of the waves like a saw. i can't find anything now thoughpheeleep wrote:Sorry.. I tried..

There is no global setting for quality...it is a per preset setting.
However, if you install the demo (which is v. 1.4), open the bank in question, and resave it, then the default for those presets will be 1.0.
No, I don't understand how it works....it just does. I think NAS posted the "fixed" virus bank on one of these Z3ta threads.
while I'm here: There is no deleting any saw waves for the virus mod. You simply look at the Half Saw wave after you've installed the virus mod. If the "half saw" wave looks like a sine wave, then you've installed it correctly.

What do you mean? The half saw wave looks like a half saw wave...
I fail to see how this can help determine if it's installed correctly since the original z3ta+ also has a half saw wav
