good links there rob :)

ogg is like mp3.. except its a license-free format and the file sizes tend to be a bit less than mp3.

there are a number of players for both windows and mac.. shouldnt be an issue.

Post

ok ...

... as an experiment ive amended the submissions thread (ie - the rules) to allow .ogg encoded files too (still with the 128kbit limit though)

hell ... even i can encode and play them (winamp 2.n likes them fine enough) - its not THAT difficult

be aware though - i guess if folks cant (or wont) play .ogg then youll lose out votes wise

slainte :) rob

Ogg's an issue for me. I'm not installing any more players on my system. Shouldn't we be trying to find the most compatible solution? I'd rather sacrifice a bit of sound quality so that I don't have to download and install another player.

aww boohoo.. I'm going to lose my 1 vote :P

hehe

I'm writing trance this time around.. so I doubt i'll have many listens or votes anyways

Most all major music players support ogg these days.. it shouldnt be an issue at all.

youtm, what music player do you use???

Post

I missed your post Rob because I was posting at the same time I guess. Vit D, I use iTunes - but I'd get another player if I had to. I just don't want to. I like to keep the all the songs in one place - I keep a permanent playlist of all the songs. I'm not going to skip your song just because you don't like MP3.

PS: I like trance music - except when it sounds like a car alarm. :D

utm (must be so thick - took me ages to get that) -

Ogg is cool by me... Never heard of it before, but if winamp plays them just the same, then I have no worries here... Not sure if I'll use it myself... I'll try the difference out tomorrow....

Whew.... Free for All Challenge....

Hmmmmm, I better start thinking about that one....

Wow thanks for the tip Rob! I'll try it!

Pfff, and I was trying to work out what the hell "Yo UTM" meant.

My mind is obviously too highly trained...

Sorry. I got bored with the old name...

And on a completely different topic: Am I correct in understanding that we are not limited by filesize anymore as long as the TRT is no more than 2 minutes and the bitrate is 128 kbps or less?

ogg is like mp3... except it isn't supported in any hardware playback systems yet.
