It looks like this will start shipping in July but we still havent seen any audio or video demos of this product in action.

Didnt Steinberg showcase this anywhere yet? Anyone seen or more importantly heard it?

Most articles in German however. The delamar videos are IMO the most informative ones.

I was gonna buy Halion Player for €49 and then upgrade to Sonic at the special price but I missed out by a couple of days... Upgraded to Kontakt 4 instead..

Something that put me off was the size of the library for Halion Sonic. It's only 12 GB compared to Kontakt's 43GB. Maybe it is not a fair comparison as the library for SampleTank XL is around 4GB. Maybe Kontakt's huge library is skewing my perception..

I'll still be keeping an eye on this one though.

I got the Halion player offering - just to be able to upgrade to Halion Sonic. It's sort of a blind date as I really have no use for Halion Player. So I hope Halion Sonic will live up to its promises as potentially becoming the ultimate VST workstation!? What makes me confident:
1. Yamaha is involved and I am always impressed about the sound quality that hw-producers squeeze out of little amounts of memory. I am therefore not concerned about "only" 12 GB !
2. Halion Sonic's predecessor HyperSonic2 is very well regarded around here
3. I am extremely keen on the articulations / expressions / arpeggiator capabilities!

I'm in the shop now but I can see how to take the upgrade path but where do I input my serial or whatever it uses to tell I have HS2?
