Please help identify this female vocal sample!

Before I say anything, I just want to announce that I'm not a musician in any shape or form. I'm just a random person who decided this type of forum would be a great place to ask my question.

I'm trying to locate a female vocal sample that I've heard in a total of three songs so far. I really love the melody, especially at the end of the first song. I figured if I found out where the sample's from, I can more easily find other songs that used the same one.

Now I know this singer is from a sample library. The only problem is...I have no idea which one. Sigh.... Since KVR is a large community of musicians who likely own many instrument libraries, I figured this would be a good place to ask.

All three songs are from video games, two of the games Japanese. It's the woman singing that I'm interested in. She sounds like she's singing some sort of East Asian chant, but I'm not really sure.

• The first song is "Sacrificial Song" by Daisuke Achiwa, and it was featured in the video game Ar tonelico.
• The second song is "惑 -perplexity-" by Osamu Kubota, and it was featured in the video game beatmania IIDX 11 RED.
• The third song is "Train Wrecked" by Greg Edmonson, and it was featured in the video game Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

In "Train Wrecked," I'm not as certain it's the same sample. The part I want to compare to "Sacrificial Song" and "惑 -perplexity-" begins at 2:02. Sounds like the same woman/melody, doesn't it?

Does anyone recognize these samples?

Sony ACID Loops? East West? Spectrasonics? Kontakt? Bela D Media?

The only hint I have is Osamu Kubota's personal website (path: prof => what he uses), where he lists some of the equipment he uses.

Greg Edmonson is a big-name movie/TV composer, but he doesn't have an official website that I know of. Neither does Daisuke Achiwa.

So...any help would be appreciated. I'm not looking for direct downloads or anything like that. I just would like to know which library these samples came from. (My brother IS a composer, and I might be able to bribe him into buying this one.... >_>)

I've listened to some of their songs.... I'm not sure if they use samples or live recordings for their singers though. Are there any songs of theirs in particular I should try?

I'm not 100% sure but I think I may have heard this sample recently whilst playing with things at a mate's studio.

Can't promise, but... I may be able to track it down for you next time I'm there. There's three or four sample CDs I think it could be from. We shall see.

I'm guessing (based on a quick google search), that the singer(s) in question are one or more of the following:

Akiko Shikata

Haruka Shimotsuki

Noriko Mitose

Hope that narrows it down for you!

edit: to clarify, I found these names at:

Sacrificial Song is the 33rd track on Disc 1, and the three vocalists listed above are mentioned about halfway down the page as the three singers on the album, although it doesn't specify which vocalist sang on each track. But, at the very least it narrows the vocalist on Sacrificial Song down to one of those three women.

I know of each of the three artists you listed, but also I know for a fact each of them did not contribute to all three songs I referenced. (Doesn't sound like them, at least! ) Those three are only credited on the Ar tonelico soundtrack. Plus, it's unlikely their vocals were used on Edmonson's score since he's a Western composer.

(I checked each of their entries in the VGMdb, as well....)

The fact that beatmania (2005) and Uncharted (2010) are from completely different labels and publishers suggests that the sample is from a library, not any of those three ladies. As far as I know, I don't think those three singers contributed their voices to a royalty-free library either.

Also, since "惑 -perplexity-" was released first, I'd think the song would have to be credited as a sample on the other two soundtracks if it were a one-time recording (like when a rapper samples and gives credit to a classic singer). However, the two other songs are completely unrelated and "惑 -perplexity-" is uncredited, so I don't think it could be these girls. Just a hunch....

I can confirm that the vocal sample comes from Big Fish Audio's Legend of China.

Well, I see you tracked it down, I was gonna say there's also I forget the plugin name but this vst library that has all these asian women's voices that's all done with synths basically. It's got a popular following and I remember seeing a lot of songs on youtube made using the vst/program. I believe it works similar to text-to-speech in that you have to spell out what you want the girl to sing phonetically.
