Are we talking about an API for plugin authors to use for persistence, or a centralised place for managing all settings? Or both? Either way, I'm intrigued

- but opening the API for plugin / host authors to use will come a little bit further down the line.

Excellent... I'm definitely interested then
I'm just starting to think about how to do persistence of complex types for my next plugin... Even if there's no public API for a while, if there's a common and established way to do things then it'll be easier to implement and port later
