How to add custom images to Omnisphere & Trilian Patches

Hi everyone!

I find the pictures the Spectrasonics team added to the Patches very inspiring. So I got to wondering, can we make our own pictures for our own presets?

It turns out you can and here are the steps for anyone else who wants to do it themselves.

1. Create a patch you want to save (duh).
2. Now you'll need 2 pictures, the Thumbnail and the Zoom view. The thumbnail should be 125x125 and the zoomed image should be 300x300.
3. Save both pictures as jpeg (.jpg) format.
4. Navigate to the User/ library for Trilian/Omnisphere and at the same location you have your preset.
5. Name the Zoomed image [Preset Name].jpg and the thumbnail as [Preset Name]_thumb.jpg.
6. That's it! Your pictures should show up in the browser and on the Main page the next time you load it.

Here's a concrete example.

Preset name: Spectrasonics\STEAM\Trilian\Settings Library\Patches\User\Synth Bass\Cheese Pile.prt_trl


Zoomed image: Spectrasonics\STEAM\Trilian\Settings Library\Patches\User\Synth Bass\Cheese Pile.jpg



Thumbnail image: Spectrasonics\STEAM\Trilian\Settings Library\Patches\User\Synth Bass\Cheese Pile_thumb.jpg


And inside Trilian:

I love the idea! But I had to figure out a way to do this for files in batches. So, here's a guide for how to do this for thumbnail images. It's faster and easier than it may seem!

Very useful if you want to create an Omnisphere or Trilian bank and want your custom images to show up when users load one of your patches!

**It's the same for zoomed images, just make the images 300x300 pixels and omit "_thumb" from the image names, so skip step 4.

Step 1) Download these two programs:

1) Bulk Rename Utility (BRU) http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Download.php

2) Text Renamer http://www.allmalta.com/software/files/TextRenamer.zip

Install BRU (requires install), and extract TextRenamer.exe (doesn't require install)

Step 2) Open your user folder for Trilian or Omnisphere where your desired patches are located. e.g. C:\Program Files\Spectrasonics\STEAM\Omnisphere\Settings Library\Patches\User\GMusicBank

Step 3) Open BRU, click "Actions" at the top, then "Jump to path." Navigate to or copy/paste the path (see example in step 2).

Step 4) Find box #7 on the bottom right of BRU. In the "Suffix" field, enter:  _thumb

Step 5) In the top window, select all the patch files you wish to attach a thumbnail to. 

Step 6) Right click on the highlighted patches, click "Clipboard Copy" and then "Filename"

*Important: DO NOT click "Rename". We do not want to rename the patches.* 

Step 7) Open Text Renamer. Right click on the right hand window, click Paste.

Step 8) In a different folder, insert the image you wish to use for these patches. It needs to be 125x125 pixels, jpg format (use a website like Pixlr.com if need be to do this). 

Step 9) Right click the image file, click copy. Now, hold Ctrl and press V until you make enough copies for each of the patch files. For instance, if you have 15 patches you want to assign this image to, then make 15 copies of this image.

Step 10) Drag and drop all of these image files into the left side of TextRenamer and click "Click here when ready" on the bottom.

Step 11) Go back to the folder with all the images in them, which are now renamed. Drag them into the same folder where the Omnisphere or Trilian patches are located.

Step 12) Open Omnisphere or Trilian, open the patch browser, and if needed, click the Refresh button. Find your patches and see your thumbnail!


Voila! Done! Hope this helps!

Greetings, necrophiliacs....
I need to make image files for a zillion Omnisphere patches. Does anyone know where I can find the Textrenamer util mentioned above by Gmusic? I have searched high and low for it, but no luck.

Or maybe a new process for batch renaming the JPG's for Omni patches??
