I liked Vic's song so much I tried to horn-in on his fun!

... Vocals are something I never thought I'd get into. I'm not much of a singer but I like the idea of threading another kind of data into the mix. I'd do visuals too but CPU power, time, and bandwidth don't readily permit it. I do try to always embed a nice picture into the tags.

Once again, I really don't want to seem as though I'm being critical of what you do. It's just not for me. I listened to Ride and it is good. But it won't stick with me long because there isn't a part for me to get stuck in my head. I tend to hold on to vocal melodies when I get thing stuck in my head. I started all of this stuff as a "band" guy. So I usually tend to enjoy things that fit into that realm. Maybe I shouldn't have made that statement at all. I truely didn't mean to offend you.

I'm sure that's part of it. I grew up with classical music before I discovered pop/jazz/country/blues, so instrumental music is very natural to me. I can appreciate good vocals when other people do them, but I don't feel that what I write is lacking a vocal just because it's not there.

No problem. In ascii it sounded a bit more harsh than you probably intended.

Looking forward to your entry in the competition.

:o No no, it's a WAV file, isn't it? Anyway, what've you got against Quicktime? I remember you mentioning it a few months ago...

You were worried about it taking over your computer or something... On a PC, I thought it's just an application like RealPlayer or WMP. You can tell it not to associate filetypes if you'd rather not use it for something. Does it mess up your sequencer?

Post

Sorry for being a complainer. Quicktime messed up my sequencer a year or so ago so I won't let it near my computer. And I'm still sore at Apple so I'm being a big baby about it.

Can you make it an ogg or MP3?

Cheers,
Gordon

Gordon: just right-click on the link and do a "Save As", then load it up in winamp (or Audition or whatever).

Though it would certainly be a quicker download in an encoded format... ;)

Are you guys talking about the "petaHertz" WAV file link I posted?

Mr. Me, that beepy loop in your song sounds great. Is that a sample or a patch? it reminds me of the "computer" sound effect that used to be used a lot in 60s-70s TV and radio and even a few dramatic kids records. The sound I'm thinking of must have been part of some sound effect library that everyone had. Anyway it's vaguely familiar... :)
