The clunky one on the right that is much harder to read? Just look at the word "Drums". You can't be serious...

Just my 2 cents
It was written in the first post:

Left Screenshot: new font from Steinberg
Right Screenshot: haked screenshot

So yes, I do say that especially the word "drums" is harder to read and I prefer the "new Steinberg default" one in this case.

I'm surprised how many people go haywire about it. Granted, the "new font" is not the best to boot IMO, but isn't the usability of the host important? And I guess that is given - even with the new font.

Just to be clear...
"New on the left, old on the right"
"New" (left) is the new font after the hack. "Old" (right) is the original 5.5 font - before - the hack. Obviously the "hacked in" font would be the "newest" one replacing the other one, especially since the new one I used and named, Candera, didn't appear in any previous version of Cubase.

Sorry if that wasn't clear but anyone actually using Cubase 5.5 ... would immediately know which was which.

As a side note, I find it humorous when people enter a thread they have no interest in just to tell others who do have interest in that subject matter, to "move on". :hihi: Kinda like in China... only talk about what we think you should talk about.

Then again, even if you hack the .exe file... are you really save from crashes, bugs and unusual behavior?

What I'd wish for from Steinberg would be: free usage of a standard font. I remember them using something like that back in old sub-SX Cubase days.

And I don't find the difference between these fonts negligible, and it does matter to me (and apparently other users).

So if you're happy with the new font - great.
I wasn't - but now I am (with the old font).

Now moving on.

Cheers
Well I meant get used to it after a month or so. Not 5 minutes..

Honestly this should only effect people with poor eyesight but I don't think Steinberg should be blamed for that. And going back to a previous version because of a font is hardly moving on.
Who said something about 5 minutes ?
I haven't !

And who else if not Steinberg is to blame for it ?
They at least could make it an option to chose a font in the option settings.
And btw, I haven't blamed Steinberg anyway in my prior post !

Also I haven't gone back to a previous version !
Otherwise I would have not give a thanx here for the information posted,
if I wouldn't use Cubase 5.5.

As said, if you're happy with the new font - that's o.k.
But please accept, that there are other people out there, who
have a legitimate problem ( be it because of screen size, clear type,
or what else) with the new font.
So I am happy, that there is a solution to this now, as long Steinberg don't provide us an option to freely choose a font.

Cheers

well I've been using Cubase for 5 years, I would say that would be enough of a reason to have an opinion on it.. After all this is a public forum.

5 minute thing was just a joke... ;)
I would have to assume that anyone that has a serious problem with the font has eye trouble of one kind or another or just resists change for the sake of it.

You obviously completely missed my point. No problem, no drama. Moving on.

Thanks lotus. This (clear communication and mutual understanding without very, very long paragraphs) is where the Internet kinda falls short.

Thanks man.

Is not really a showstopper to make music isn't it?

On my system the new font is very good to read, no problem.
Ah, now I know who the universe revolves around. I always wondered.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

LawrenceF wrote:A user over at the Cubase forum has described how to hack into the C 5.5 exe file to change that big ugly new font.
Well, it looks like all informations suddenly vanished from the Cubase forum and moderators started to insult people as criminals.

At least this thread and it's equivalent at cubendo are still available.

cool! Anyone know how to do it on the Mac? And to put the Audio Export dialog back to the old behavior? :hihi:

It's amazing how retarded they are about this. Oh well as long as it works.

If they keep shoving things up our asses this way and not improving Cubase, well hopefully by that time the alternatives will be better :hihi:
In process of making music that reeks of turd
