Thanks, Frank. That hint cut it down to three minutes of googling, rather than a hour or so of picking through discographies, especially when people make pages like this.

A Perfect Circle & Mott the Hoople both had a song called 'Rose'.
Mott the Hoople & Sisters of Mercy both had a song called 'Alice'.
Sisters of Mercy & Human League had songs called 'Marian' & 'Marianne'.
Human League & Maurice Chevalier both had a song called 'Louise'.

(Bonus: The Cult & A Perfect Circle - 'Judith')

A perfect answer; and I wish I'd found that link when I was setting the question.

The connection was artists, with the exception of M. Chevalier, who had released two tracks that were solely female names (which also linked with the next artist).

Over to you, Barnadine!

My guess is that they're people's names, but I'm still not getting very far with that theory.
A Kinky Gala?...
This one in particular is annoying me. Three 'a's and two 'k's? Can't get anything out of that! Also...is any of the punctuation relevant (particularly in the above example)?

I was going for "King" Kalaya and "Lanky" Kiaga, the popular bebop duo.

Punctuation isn't relevant, but you're on the right track. The names of five people with something in common.

Not standard Western names though, which is probably what's throwing you. All five are enormously famous and respected in their field, though less well known in the English speaking world.

Also, two of them are siblings, if that helps.

Where an odd sack rotted,
Real AI was born.

From this I'd like a composer, one of said composer's works, and a city (and preferably why this city). Two answers are anagrammed in those lines. Not all letters are used.

Not sure what you mean by this. The whole thing is an anagram containing two answers, and extra letters (so...not an anagram) or contains two answers, some of the letters of which are shared?

My brain hurts...

Maybe "not all words are used" is better. (Maybe it's just a badly thought out question and I should have gone with the wordfinds I had ready to go before I thought I should try to cook up something more clever.)

The whole thing isn't an anagram.

Two answers are in the clue (one in each line) as anagrams; but not all the words in the clue (nor in each line) are used in those anagrams.

If that doesn't help, I'll be around on and off for the next several hours for further clarification and/or lumptaking.

No, that makes more sense (although whether it will help me remains to be seen  ).
