Hi,Guys! I need to learn how to convert an audio file into a midi file in order to be used in a vsti synth using Melodyne .I converted below piece of sample using the Save "Audio To Midi" option in Melodyne Studio.But the midi file i got, doesn't sound ok it only plays along just a single midi note.So, Any Melodyne Users out there could you please give me some idea how you convert audio file into a midi sequence that is usable in another synth.Below is the link for the related files.Thanks!Guys.

I did this the other night to start making my Vocaloid Sonika sing Castles In The Sky.
I remember I had a problem importing the MIDI file from Melodyne into the Vocaloid Editor program. I had to drop the MIDI file into Live to make a MIDI Clip and then export the MIDI Clip and that MIDI file worked in Vocaloid.

wait lol... are you trying to convert an entire song into midi? please say yes.

Well.. I'm sorry but what i actually wanted to try out was converting only a small piece of audio let's say we wanted to sing out some interlude and convert it to a midi so that we can use it in our synth.As Melodyne seems to have the ability to create a midi file with a lot of midi data like pitch bending I thought Melodyne was a good choice for the purpose.Why doesn't my exported midi sound even close to the notes of my wav file.Please Help! I am so intersted in finding out how to do this.

Never had that experience. But I'm thinking that you must have used the Percussive Algorithm to scan the Audio File, instead of the Melodic or Polyphonic one. That would explain why you're getting a single note of MIDI on conversion.
If I'm converting Audio to MIDI in Melodyne, I'll fix the timing and tuning of the Audio File first. Then delete any detected Audio blobs that are not contributing any useful information. Remembering all the time that I'm not trying to perfect an Audio file per sae. I'm 'fixing' the Audio File in order to extract MIDI information. Then simply save as . . . MIDI.

Ok, I went to Edit->Preferences->Detection and changed to Melodic and Polyphonic.
But still the same note.Please some more help to move forward.

Try "melodic" using a "mono" source file.

Ok,Shabdahbriah. Now The midi file is working but the pitch of the notes are not the same as in the audio file,any idea about getting it to the correct pitch .If sombody can give me an audio sample and its Melodyne converted midi file it might be more helpful to me.Thanks Again!

Or simply edit the melodyne detection first.
Most of the time, the attacks have some problems for like for upright basses where detecting the pitch is a little harder. And what happens is that it detects two separate notes, one that has a very wrong pitch, and then the correct one resulting in a weird midi file.
Of course you can edit that midi file in a sequencer too

Well.. Finally I got it done guys.I used Melodyne Editor this time.In Melodyne Editor there is no direct menu for "Save Audio To Midi" but all i did was selected my whole track and used the "Save As" Option and selected file type as "mid".And the Alogrithm "Polyphonic" sounded very precise.
Thank you all guys for helping me so far.I am not a professional musician but i love making music with softwares.This forum has helped me a great deal throughtout the time.I feel like being blessed for being able to be in company of great people like you.Peace!
