I tried it, but uninstalled it again.
An idiot on Set Theory:

gear wise - yep indeed
sound preset librarys and sample packs are my main weakness at the moment and also thinking about buying zebra 2 and cantanya and also obelisk or ronin
problem is I can only afford 1 to 2 things at this time

Know what, i have realized that i JUST DON'T NEED MORE SOFTWARE TO MAKE GOOD MUSIC
I need inspiration, and by the way... does anybody know a place where i can buy that !
I have reached a point where i know i don't need more but BOY, is it hard to realize !!
I just hate when i have convinced myself that i have what i need and then... something new and great is coming up... arrrrrgh
One of the latest i did buy but and in a way don't need is the Loomer Stringer.
Just because i LOOOVE strings, old analog string sounds off course, and the Loomer just sounds soo goood, BUT i can do very good strings on my old and trusty Vaz 2010, no problem, or on the fantastic free synth SynAddSubFX wich, by the way do the best pad sounds in the world beleave me
BUT HEY the Loomer IS good.
I allso recently bought Ultra Analog from Applied Acoustics.
It was cheap, it sounds good, but i know i can do all the shit on my OLD TRUSTY Vaz 2010/or Vaz Modular and i haven't used Ultra Analog yet.
I could go on, but it really is hard to resist all the great software that's coming all the time.
What i did resist is Omnisphere, but i know it's VERY good but i allso know it's hard on the cpu so... not yet
If we are talking software i have WAITED ON... well, the answer is Alchemy
If i should choose only one synth to do it all this is the one... this and Vaz 2010
I'm writing this sitting on my balcony in candel light on the most fantastic summer evening in Denmark drinking a glass of nice port knowing i have all the software i only could dream on a few years ago... blah-blah-blah
Life's good......... right now.... and remember, there is only NOW..... all the time
peace to all

yeah I know what you mean, but the producers of these fabulous vsts and sound packs know how to push our buttons to buy as they sound so good.
must admit alchemy is an amazing synth and I probably do not need to buy another one for a long while but I know I will...
omnisphere and kontact 4 are the main ones I really want, but will have to start saving the pennys for those.
I do not think I need another synth (I do want to buy zebra 2, but have resisted for a bit), what I really want is crazy effects with lots of LFO'a and modulation and sending midi cc data so I can control the synths I have with crazy effects

No. I'm not. No matter whether or not I have a tool that takes care of something (like say vintage mono synth sound) I can't help but fall in love with another tool if it's got some charm or feature that makes me happy. Don't get me wrong, there are a bunch of plugs I won't buy because they don't do it for me, but people keep releasing things that just seem so good!hibidy wrote:You've gotta be kidding me with that question......right?

THIS is exactly what I'm talking about. (just sprung for Vaz Modular myself, yet I couldn't help but immediately get KikAXXE as well)olepro wrote:Know what, i have realized that i JUST DON'T NEED MORE SOFTWARE TO MAKE GOOD MUSIC

When I'm tempted to buy a new bit of gear, I now think to myself, will this help me in producing music? Then I look around at the more than dozen synths I have about the room, the guitars, fx etc that aren't helping me do anything at the moment..and I realize, the shiny new thing won't really help me either..it all has to come from within ..so, no, I'm not hell bent on getting anything anymore.

Recently I got in on a couple of group buys and had buyers remorse. Even though it wasn't much cash I would have gotten more for my money if I had bought a box of donuts. I haven't seen anything really exciting in 3 years. I really stopped last year. I'm pretty sure I can resist anything at this point but I reserve a little wiggle room JIC the prices go through the floor.
It's easy for me 'cause I've already got almost everything. I imagine I'll continue to upgrade Sonar and energyXT updates are (so far) free so that should be about the end of it.

For me this IS my hobby.....really my one and only. I think my purchases this year have been mainly spot-on so the highlighted question actually was almost totally yes.bluedad wrote:When I'm tempted to buy a new bit of gear, I now think to myself, will this help me in producing music? I think last year I was way more of the "shiny new things"......allot of which I sold
