It does - you can update the internal dll's with the new version (I've been using it quite a lot - works very nicely)

The "Modal Bank" module is another major addition in the Reaktor 5.5 arsenal. Modal synthesis can produce a wide range of complex, organic timbres with tremendous depth and dynamic range, especially in the physical-modelling domain. The Modal Bank is also the basis for a new synthesizer that I am currently working on, which we will release in the near future as a separate instrument, but also as an ensemble for use in Reaktor 5.5.

This is particularly exciting

That's standard with many betas. Official release is set for September so they don't still want old beta versions knocking around at that point.

just edited my post - I know about ending betas, but I assumed this is already the update just being labelled as a beta to avoid users ranting

Not really. While you'd be correct in saying that this is the release in its present form, it's highly unlikely that this will be the actual update version.

@amused, thanks for the info that it works fine in kore. i will install the 5.5 beta within the next hours (as soon as the children are in bed). what do you mean by updating the internal dll's? do you mean the vsti plugin folder that kore is using?

I mean the "engine" dlls - on Windows they are in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Native Instruments\Kore 2\PlugIns - obviously backup your present dll's first before over writing them just in case they don't work so well for you - it is a beta so it will probably have some issues not yet known of

No. He's talking about copying the Reaktor .dlls to Kore's IE folder:

C:\Program Files (or Program Files(x86) if you're x64)\Common Files\Native Instruments\Kore 2\Plugins

Note that this is an at your own risk solution. However, as Stephen mentioned it works fine as far as I've seen.
