hi - vir2 team :)

does electricity support the following in chord mode: (when using a sequencer)

play/detect "full chords" chords (with eg. 5 notes) but option to set volume/mute each individual string?

i mean is it possible to play/have detected a complex chord with 5 strings but only play it with 3 specific strings?

thx

Post

Hi the_fonc,

yes, it's possible. The Electri6ity strumming engine can be automated easily to only play 2,3,4 or 5 strings of a guitar chord.

And the guitar wood, the strings and pickups. Maybe I missed it but there doesn't appear to be anything in Electri6ity loaded with EMG 81s or aggressive passive pups like Bare Knuckle's Warpig. I doubt any of the guitars were strung 12-60 either.
Haha - that's funny.

I'll second that. It's superb. Some of the demos don't fully show off what this plugin is capable of, yet the ones that do really show where it shines.

And it shines brightly.

The only thing that would stand a chance of beating Electri6ity is Efflam's Dark Lady guitar, or the Prominy libraries which are superb. Of these three, hypothetically it's a toss-up. I would take Dark Lady because it most likely won't chew up any RAM while providing the realistic sound of guitars.

...

As good as these recent and upcoming plugins are, I don't think guitarists have any reason to freak out. And brass, wind, and sax players don't have anything to worry about either, as good as WIVI and Samplemodeling plugins sound.

There will always be a place for the real player/real instrument.

And vocalists? I'm not sure if we'll ever be able to replace those

Ben :D
Don't know "Dark Lady" but I do know Prominy and I really don't think it is in the same ball park. Prominy to me is just lots of gigabytes of samples, whereas Electri6ity is a playable instrument.

Prominy is out of the running then, that's a shame, it sounded really nice in demos though. But then so did EWQL Colossus, and I don't even use Colossus except for some of the pads and synth stuff.

So, Efflam's Dark Lady guitar it is.

So, we have a choice of Electri6ity or...er, nothing.

Peter,
Wich prominy lib do you have? I think SC is great. It is difficult to use , but with practice , You can get very realistic tracks. My electri6ity should be here wednsday !

Hi, is it possible to get the midi files used on the demos, or some examples somewhere to see how it was done. I'm really a beginner in midi programming stuff. Thanks.

Post

I think there are a few clean examples. I remember Benjamin posted a funky demo somewhere, but I can't recall when or where. He might revisit this thread and point to the demo. Until then, it might be worth reading the thread in it's entirety and see if any funk demo pops up. I remember there was a funky demo somewhere.

Hello dljc
I know what you mean about looking at the midi files for the Demos, and your not the only one who has asked for them, for it would be very helpful to anyone who is just starting to use Electri6ity, especially for someone like your self who is new to Midi. I have been using Electri6ity since it's release, memorized the manual etc. but it was only when I started to play around with all the differernt aspects of Electri6ity that I started to get a handle on the programming. Which took a coulpe of weeks, and I have been into midi since the mid 1980's.
Seeing how you are new to midi I would recommend for you to find someone who lives near you, who knows midi, and is willing to help you get the basics,
midi is not all that hard once you understand what is going on. However at first it can seem like alot of mumble jumble.
You will need to understand midi fully to use Electri6ity.
For without the understanding of midi, having the midi files for the demos would not help much.
I hope this helps :)
