Hi Dan

Only if you load a multi with no bass. For example if you load factory piano/strings with sax, it will load the piano strings for left hand (you can play any chord) sax for right hand.

Some mulits with bass, load on the same midi channel and keyboard is split into zones and you can trigger each instrument with keyswtching. This IMO is not musical and I have never played liked this.

Some multis load on separate midi channels, so in effect you can have 16 keyboards all with their own zones, keyswitching and pad set ups. I am no midi guru so will never utilize this as some will.

Is there an upright bass in Halion Sonic? ...and if so how does it sound?

After awaiting the initial responses, Im finally gonna upgrade (its been almost 2 weeks  new record)

I have a question for the people more familiar with the steinberg usb license stuff.

Can I download(activate) the license onto the usb key on my regular internet computer and then use it on my audio pc? I'd rather not connect my audio pc to the internet again.

Of course, that's one of the main advantages of dongles, you can have your instument installed in as many computers as you like, and then simply insert the dongle in the one you are going to use.

...yup and you do just have to install the dongle software on each pc once.

With challenge response methods you need to go through the licensing process of every related plugin on a new machine again and again...

Why can I not find a place to purchase the Halion Sonic? I look for distributors, but I cannot find where to actually buy the software. I REALLY want this one though. :)

Recieved my upgrade earlier today.. 8)

Been playing with it for about an hour and half now. It's working fine on my PC, which could be considered very old by todays standards (2004). I'm also running the now unsupported, Windows XP (SP3) and everything is working just fine.

The license upgrade erases the Hypersonic2 license, but it didnt erase the 3 hyper module licenses (remember these?). Luckely Hypersonic2 still loads up and works just as promised.

I'm digging the sounds that are coming out of this program, I wasn't sure what to expect but it really has a nice feel to it. I still have to figure out most of the editing options and get deeper into the program, I havent really messed with the arp stuff but on the surface it looks great, tho I will not use it that much I like to play all my own stuff note by note.

The cpu use can get high, especially when playing big pads from the synth section, luckely someone invented a nice freeze option for Reaper

All in all this is a great deal for an upgrade, a whole new soundset for 99 euros. Even at the full retail price I'd consider this program.

Well, still waiting. This sounds like one of the better vsti's to come out in a long time for workstation like stuff, but I sure wish we could get a US release date. What's the hold up anyways when Europe has had it for at least a couple of weeks?

I don't know why your dealers don't have it yet but we've been shipping it since early last week:
