Hey all, I'm new here but I've just bought myself a copy of energyXT. I've been using it for a week or so, and I thought I'd post up what I've found so far..

EDIT - ok, so now the Release on the ADSR is working again on both Alchemy and Surge. Looks like it just needed to be shut down and restarted. I'll report back if it happens again.

I've found a couple of possible bugs:

1) Select a bit of audio. Apply a fade in / fade out using the controls available in the sequencer view. If you press undo, the fade out / in is skipped and is not undone. Instead, the action you performed before the fade is undone.

2) If you have two audio clips on the same track, with one of them having automation on it (applied through the sequencer automation lanes) and one of them without and then you glue them together, the automation is deleted.

I've got to say that although I've found three possible bugs in a week, I'm really liking energyXT..the workflow is really nice and I've been able to get a track going really quickly. XT's strengths definitely seem to be with audio, although it lacks a few (IMO) essentials options:

1) Duplicate track!

2) ADSR on audio clips

3) I might have missed this, but you don't seem to be able to use shortcuts for a few options, e.g. reverse

4) if you have multiple sequencers set up and you want to bounce a track on one of the sequencers, selecting solo on the track doesn't mute the other sequencers. Not sure if this is an issue or just something I'm expecting to happen :)

I'm also kinda shocked to discover that XT doesn't support multi-core CPUs. Maybe I'm being naive, but I thought multi core support was standard nowadays. I've read that this is coming and I hope it's kinda soon as running a few instances of Alchemy is starting to rinse the CPU.

Sorry for sounding so negative in my first post on here...

Overall I'm really liking XT, but there seem to be a few issues that need addressing.

Hopefully this thread is being constructive and not some big moaning bag of fail.

just my 2 cents:

confirmed, undo/redo ignores those settings.

cannot reproduce this one.

I guess that the solo/mute only applies to the "active" sequencer, which makes sense (sort of) because the sequencer is an self-contained entity. to enable global mute/solo there should be somthing different. like a menu option that says "enable global solo".

Thanks for replying..

I just tested this again and it happened again. I made a jpg to illustrate what is happening:

So it deleted some of the automation, but I have seen it delete the majority of the automation just leaving me with the first node.

I've also edited my first post as the ADSR release is working again on Alchemy and Surge.

To add to to the automation discussion: gluing clips of midi removes automation causes problems too for me. Often it is the second clip in question which automation points dissapear.

Hopefully you tested it thoroughly before you bought it and decided you can live with the little bugs 'cause bug fixes and feature request are slow to come by. Not that they don't come but it's very slow going on some things. Good luck, welcome to energyXT and welcome to KVR.

If everybody did that, there wouldn't be anyone using it!

obviously not enough. still, seems a little more stable as a VST than when using it as a host..
