Thoughts on a GUI please

Hi,

This is my first attempt at a GUI that I'm considering using for a VST release. I'm a little paranoid about putting it out there so I thought I'd get some feedback here first:


Just a couple of things the meter area's still just a mock up and isn't scaled correctly yet and "Clip Monster" is just a working title to fill the space. I'm still not sure what it'll be called.

So yeah, any thoughts or constructive criticism would be most welcome

Any chance of implementing a Mid/Side Matrix Matt? Like in NCL PhaseEQ. IMHO that would really add something that bit extra to make it really standout
The thought of a M/S Limiter/Clipper excites me. Im no dev though so if its a dumb idea then ignore my friend

As for the GUI i am affraid that im not that hot when it comes to that department at all so long as it sounds good in operation i use

Hi Dean,

M/S options could make things more interesting for sure. Perhaps just dry/wet M/S mix options, or things could get more intricate with M/S options for the sidechain/emphasis filter, but that might require a full rework of the GUI

As for the GUI i am affraid that im not that hot when it comes to that department at all so long as it sounds good in operation i use

Well only if you can justify the time Matt
I know it will sound good as your other plug-ins
do man. SE or not SE they are really good EQ's

i had an all day graphic project to do and found inspiration to start in your thread title. in no way was it intended to be derisive. i don't enjoy making "fun" of people.

Looks pretty good apart from the "jaunty" text ... I'd keep it all horizontal. Might be better to line up the knobs at the bottom with those above too. Is it going to be free or commercial?

I agree. Lose the angled text. Also, make the boost/knee text and button bigger. I like that the eq section is segregated... but I think you might do a little more to help this. Maybe keep the first and second gain stage buttons the same (the metal look) and keep the eq the black style.

+1 on the ditching the angled text and making the switches bigger.
