Currently I have TAL-Vocoder installed, it is good but not as wide range sounding as I want, I'm looking for that early 80's Electro Funk/Hip Hop type vocoder,

Is this the right time to jump in and get 'Vocodex', money is a bit tight, but if it's real good I'd like to get it before it goes to normal price again, what's the competition, I'm after a really good one, BUY IT NOW or save my money and stick with TAL!

It's freakin awesome.

Interesting. Hadn't even heard of it. I'd definitely like a good vocoder but I'm not inclined to buy the Eliosis one. More comments on this would be great.

Well try the demo. It is IMHO one of the best software vocoders available (if not the best one)..

The man two above knows about these things so I'd go along with it.

I watched demos ages ago and thought it sounded great.

This video really doesn't do it justice but :-

Unusually the built in carrier synth is pretty decent and may be all you need for the classic robot voices. It's routable any way you want though.

Sounds better than my old Korg MS2000b as well

I've watched that video a few times. When I was feeling weak and the pull on my wallet was at its greatest.

I sold my Korg MS2000BR, I thought the vocoder was useless, nothing like them old vintage Electro Funk tunes, like Jonzun Crew, Bambaataa etc, If you know that old school stuff that's the sound I'm after, I'm now off to watch the YT vid to find out more, haven't got time to demo, back to work for 6 days!

We are the robots, do, do, do-do! :hihi:

I have the ELS vocoder and absolutely love it. Support is excellent too.

However, I do like the sound of Vocodex and at $49 has me interested again.
I did try the demo a couple of months ago and it kept crashing in Sonar and Reaper when trying to send midi notes to it. I might download the demo again and give it another go.

Is that a known fault?

There are other YT vids on it, from listening to them and the IL's demo I'm sure this is the buisness! 8)

Oh dear, don't tell the wife!

LOL tell me about it.

I've only managed to use it once in a track so far, and that was the phrase 'Daddy, where are my strawberries' as a juvenille robot.

I'll use it alot, eventually! After I master the composition side more, that's my main focus, then eq/mixing/fx, I just want to grab it now whilst it's cheap for the long run!

My first lp will be called 'Adventures in vocoding and other bollocks!' :D

But was it unique to me?

I will try and demo it again soon but would be interested to know if anyone else has had this issue.
