I've the same problem with Reaper (latest release) and the Aether demo. @ Galbanum: please try to sort that issue out. I'm really interested in Aether since it seams to be very, very good. But I don't want to do lots of experiments and manual file copies to get it to work.

Thanks.

Hi all,

I wanted to share an awesome orchestral composition created by Dedric Terry (KDM) using one instance of Aether 1.5 to supply all reverb. Dedric tells me all instruments were used in the "close mic" setting to be as dry as possible before applying Aether to them.

http://www.2caudio.com/products/aether/ ... her150.mp3

Dedric designed this preset completely on his own to fit the needs of this composition and customized all settings himself after investing a little time to understand how the various ER and LR parameters interact. The final preset used is here:

http://www.2caudio.com/products/aether/ ... alHall.2ca

Aether is well known for its unique ability to do extreme presets suitable for sound-design and ambient music as I have shown above, but we always like to point out and remember it excels equally are more traditional reverb needs for acoustic, orchestral, folk, rock, etc needs as well. We designed it to do both equally well.

We are honored and thankful to have the help of talented composers such as Dedric to help show what Aether is capable in these areas. Thanks Dedric! Great work!

Enjoy...

Hi guys,

FYI Sonic Academy just did a video tutorial and review on reverb and it featured Aether along with Lexicon and the new Relab plug...

Understanding Reverb

Aether was featured heavily, and it was highly recommended. Sonic Academy summarized:
"To my ears it [Aether] sounds pretty amazing and I have run through quite a few of these plugins. For bang for your buck, I think this is by far the best!"
We also have a feature in EM August 2010, and Mix is upcoming...

just sharing the info...

Post

I think it was a good idea to wait for the release of the LX 480 Lexicon emulation from Relab (the developers of the IK Multimedia CSR Reverb and SSL X-Verb). Aether is a bit special, because you have many parameters. I was very impressed while demoing Aether 1.5 and I think its worth the price!

But compared to the LX480, I like the LX480 more. It sounds more 3D and its easier to understand. Yes its "only" the random hall algorithm this days. The Mk2 version will have another price range (but also more algorithms like the plate) but today this gives the Lexicon sound for $199 ;)

Post

I'm liking them both (LX480 as well as Aether). Really liking the LX480 so far. The LX has the dual engine configuration that adds a lot to it. But Aether is most definitely special and definitely worth the price. I'm tempted to say forego the Lexicon (even the cheaper one) and get both the LX AND Aether, lol!

Seeing as how this is a thread about Aether...

I was reading the feature in EM the other day. Congratulations, guys!!!

Hi Can someone help me here?

I bought Aether, and it's great and all

but everytime I re-open an project in Sonar 8.5.3 64 bit, on Windows 7 64 bit, it prompts me to re-enter my serial number.. which is really annoying. I'm assuming something is wrong, does anyone know what to do?

Post

just keep trying, man. I remember I had the same problem and I got it right after a number of attempts. I honestly can't remember what the exact solution was but I just tried a couple of different things, copy and paste and whatnot. I know that's not much help but it might help that you know someone else had the same thing happen and that there probably isn't a real problem.

Post

What do you mean by copy and paste? The way I see it, there are spots for each segment of the serial code and you can't cut and paste the whole thing at once...

Every time I re-open this project I have to retype it in... it's quite annoying... it's also not remembering the factory preset I had set it on... although Sonar is remembering the automation, any help here would be appreciated! Thanks,

Sorry for your troubles.

This sounds like a "disk permissions" issue. Please follow the instructions below based upon which OS you use (OSX or Win).

After you have done this, please try to authorize Aether one more time, and let us know if the authorization status is properly saved this time. It should be. Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the reply...

I tried that, it didn't work... I tried doing that to the folder 2C aether was in, and the folder that folder was in... and it still asks me for the serial number every time... argh

Please send us an email to support [ta] 2caudio.com

I see you are on Win 7. Did you happen to install both the 32bit and the 64bit version? If so, could you possibly be trying the above trick on the 32bit folder, and not the 64bit folder?

I should really download Aether again and compare it now when I have experience with the Lexicon Reverb.

Otherwise for the best sounding reverb for the money I would really recommend Rob Papen RP-VERB, it sounds just as silky smooth as lexicon but only less 3D.
But is has a very warm mesmerizing smoothness in the sound. Just because of it's beautiful sound I use it sometimes also...it has a very beautiful kind of saturation in the sound...which I seem hard to get with the Lexicon PCM Native.

There is a lot of talk about Aether but it seem like RP-VERB has got in the shadow for some reason...it does definitely deserve more attention...cause it is the best mid-range value reverb right now..that sound very close to a hardware reverb. In this price range nothing can compete.

but yeah again I need to try Aether again...cause...last version I tried I think was 1.1 or something...

Hi all, I just wanted to thank Andrew Souter for assisting me sort out the re-authorization issue, he was able to trouble shoot in a straightforward manner and sort out my issue. Clearly customer satisfaction matters to 2CAudio and I think their's is Top Notch!
Thank you Andrew,

Well, it might be because this is an Aether thread. :D

For some reason, I haven't tried RP-VERB. I seem to remember that installing the demo involved some steps or process that made me say "no." Obviously, demos are very tied into copy protection, and putting out a semi-restricted demo for public download invites crackers to break the restrictions. However, putting too many restrictions on a demo, or making the installation tedious, or requiring several hundred MB of hard drive space for the copy protection (I think some of the older challenge/response installers required this) can result in a plugin getting less attention than it otherwise deserves.

I know that Aether has a demo that is easy to install and try out. Plus, the developer responds quickly to questions on forums, and is friendly. This is obviously proving to be a good way to build up a good reputation.
