Edison 5 minute max time is a pain

I just lost half a track due to this stupid tiny default time limit on recordings. How do I override it so it will record for as long as I play?

Yes I know but you have to do it every time you use it - I don't always remember to do that and don't see why I should have to. There should be no default limits (or at least it should be possible to set and forget a high one )Maadfoo wrote:If you look over the menubar there is a 5 which can be set to 99...

"Edison operates exclusively in RAM (memory) and so is designed for working on samples or small songs, not recording hours of audio."
this is written in the helpfile so I guess it is not possible. sorry.

I don't want hours - I do want more than 5 minutes and to be able to set and forget a reasonable time (or not have to set anything preferably and just get on with playing without having to worry about setting something in advance)Maadfoo wrote:aMUSEd wrote:Yes I know but you have to do it every time you use it - I don't always remember to do that and don't see why I should have to. I understand what you're saying. But it is impossible i think.
If you have not so much ram (for example 512mb) on your pc it could be a crasher if it overrides.
Maybe you ask in the IL Forums.

It doesn't seem to be currently possible - at least I can't find a setting to do this (like a project default or something). But it is desirable so if it's not possible it's a FR - even just remembering what I last set it to would be something

You mean in the host? That's an idea - most of the time I am using it in Kore as a quick sound recorder so I can create a koresound to go with itstimresp wrote:For me the time limit setting is saved with a project template. I'm using 9.1.

Sorry aMUSEd. I did not think that far...
Thanks for the hint, stimresp.

Yes. I just tested the VST version in energyXT1.4 and the setting saves with the project.aMUSEd wrote:You mean in the host? You could set-up an XT template with the time limit set as desired and get in the habit of inserting that that instead of just Edison.
Just an idea. But it's far simpler to just get in the habit of setting the limit as soon as you load Edison.
Alternatively you could use this:

Yeah I just created a KoreSound and it saves at 20 mins - as a bonus I mapped the record and play buttons to Kore buttons so I just have to press them and not open the gui.stimresp wrote:Yes. Getting into the habit of remembering sounds easier than it is - often I am in mid creative flow and I get adsorbed into that so anything that makes me engage the other side of my brain breaks my flow (hard enough to remember to press record - that Pre roll thing looks interesting)
