Sync not seeming to work right...

I am new to Rhino, so I hope this doesn't seem too stupid. I made a sound that I wanted to sync to tempo. It is simple, one osc, with a saw shaped envelope. When it is not synced, it sounds just as I would expect it to - whup whup whup - (I have the sustain area covering the whole sound) but when I hit sync, it just sounds like mangled sound that changes modulation drastically and seemingly randomly for every key hit. I have been a<>b ing it with some presets that are synced to tempo, they work but mine doesn't and I can't figure out why! Am I missing something simple? I've tried routing to filter, and raw... Someone please help!
