No Stringz !!!, No plucks or plucked instruments, no tuned percs ( Marimbas, xylos aso ), no mallets too, no percs either (or are they "drums" ?, no "loops", no "grooves instruments", no guitars, no keytars, no "synths", no atmos, no membranophones ,no Hits, no cinematic, no vocals, no Ensembles ....

So I'm afraid I had to vote fish my dear Michael.

Then whatever the results, you'll generally need MORE than one intruments to complete a track

Music should be more than little boxes inside a few categories and a good library might be specialized (ie Pads only like the excellent Himalaya's one), or generalist, or genre oriented ( Rockk this one or Trance that one ).

Then If it can shed some light on the final utility of the poll, or help you to make some decisions, I've splitted some of our banks into bundles OR thematic banks (ie Pads, Basses, Leads, aso ) : Result sales for bundles are 40 x Any of the themathic banks

Most People seem to prefer complete banks than ultra specialized ones, when available. Might be specific to our Sound Libraries though. This I cant know :)

Just my 0.002 though ......... I must admit that I'm curious about the results :help: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

Kinda tough to answer without knowing which synth/instrument the bank would be for IMO. For example, if it's a VA synth, I'd be more apt to go with one of the synth options over real instrument emulations. Also, some synths just excel at some types of sounds better than others. For example, Strobe rocks for basses, leads, etc., but I haven't gotten too many decent pads out of it, especially not when compared to Alchemy, Omnisphere, FM8, Gladiator, etc.

But, I voted pads anyway, just because I like them (& arps) a lot and I like studying other people's patches for creating my own.

Nobody could accuse you of not knowing your stuff Lotuzia! ; That said , there is a flaw over at your site !!..... That is What happens when one clicks on the SURGE banks button!!!! Tease :x :x :hihi: :hihi:

And for the OP the answer to your question is simple ; The great sounding ones !!!
Financial solvency and KVR Mix as well as oil and water.

My favorites, big unique soundscapes or untypical percussive basses - this sounds have mostly more character inside then normal smooth pads or bright leads.

A pad does not have any truly moving elements aside from maybe some sort of slow modulation. If it has more than that, then it's a soundscape.
I wouldn't confuse KVRers too much. Breathing and walking is enough to keep them occupied.

I bet someone will start a 35 page thread on Pads v Soundscapes.

This thread is very informative :). Maybe this is a good time to spill the beans that I've been cooking up a small pads/drones/soundscapes set for Zebra. Time to light a fire under my butt and finish it haha....

Did you group all three because you've no idea about the differences between them? I want this man interrogated now.

You've missed off the sort of preset I'm most interested in and that I have devoted a considerable amount of time into creating for several synths. I'm most interested in instruments that can physically model real instruments but my interest is not in slavishly creating replications of existing instruments, but sounds that take those models further than you could with the real version, or that are hybrids of various instrument types or that exist in some virtual space in between - like say the variety of tonal spaces that exist say between a flute and a guitar, or a trumpet with a differently shaped mouthpiece or even a reed etc. I have created presets for Cameleon and Modelonia (with the aid of Kore to facilitate morphing) that do that and have begun to do similar things in Alchemy (I can also do this with my Yamaha VL using the editing software).

Thanks Meffy.

Thanks everyone for your input.
Sorry I missed so many categories, as was pointed out.
I should have spent more than 10 minutes thinking about it.
No strings or guitar, and synths?
No Physical Modeling?

The bank I'm working on for about a year so far is for Zebra.
