Nice track - can't help thinking that there's one thing missing though (if 'twere permissible) - just some Jimmy Somerville vocals over the top!

Cheerio!

Here is an idea.. we should ask all the contestants to submit the presets of the synth/fx they used. For example, mention the name of the preset/bank if it's one of the factory preset in the accompanying text file or submit the fxp/fxb file if created from scratch or by tweaking. That way, we all will know how the sound was created, it'll be a good learning for us. The major point is that we'll know for sure that synth used indeed the one asked to be used in the challenge... I'm not saying that people are cheating but listening to some of the tunes in OSC18 - Soha Sonata, I was really wondering "how the hell did they create those sounds". So, if we share the presets then it would be helpful for others. In fact, we can club all the presets by the user name and create a bank and submit in the presets/banks section for that synth.

This time I plan to release for free my osc19 Reaper project (for studying  ).
But only after closing date for submissions. It is fair, I hope.

It's up to you what you wanna share... I'm not saying that you've to share your entire project but as the owner you're the best judge. If you think that your project is even worth studying then by all means... share with the world.. I'll leave it up to you... Synth programming is entirely a different beast... if we can learn from each other then why not... I don't see a problem in that...

anyway, it's just an idea that I wanted to share with you all. I'm not asking to make it a rule.

I was thinking the same as Satyatunes... why don't upload the original presets and be judged also on that? and, yes, we could build up one or two banks with the nmost interesting... maybe puttin' them on the site of Y'ger... it's a pity that all this works goes wasted and forgotten.

P.S.: soha sonata was strange, but it was good for some very interesting presets...

i think it's a great idea ...in theory.
and yeh i agree there should be a way to verificate there's no cheating goin on.

but i for one i'm not sure i'd be happy to share my presets, especially if it's a synth which i also use for my productions (the idea of anyone just being able to load up the whole of "my sound" in 2 seconds i dont find so appealing). an alternative could be a a video demonstration instead i suppose

2 possible scenarios:
A)contestants (especially the winner) might be required to demonstrate the entry was entirely made with the designated synth ( a video or /preset bank or/ sequencer project might be asked).
or as u suggest
B) all contestants must submit all their patches in a zip file at the end of each OSC.

ideally i'd love to vote for B) but for now i vote for A) and see what other ppl think.

Good idea. But allow a choice between variants: video or preset bank or sequencer project.

Any automatization for external filter will make a patch senseless

I like the idea about video or tutorial of some kind so it wont be like "oh we have a winner ,cool now lets move on to the next comp and thats it" It could be more interesting if winners would be "obliged" to show how the song was made, video would be best option.
I think winners would be glad to "showoff" how they did the track and it would be interesting thing to watch.

Post

I always thought it would be an idea for the winner to at least submit his project file to the admin (or all) to show it was all clean (I did after my win), but as Tattie says, the OSCs are not all that serious which is why submitting presets is optional too.

The honor system works anyway pretty good I believe, so stating in a file what FX etc was used like now is probably enough.

But I've seen call for tutorials here before, so anything like that and/or presets would be welcome by many for sure.

Agreed :D

Having said that, I for one don't have any problem in sharing my presets. I've started doing preset banks that I'm going to give away anyway ;)
