Athlon 2500+ 1.8ghz, 1gb RAM, XP SP3
Vandal demo - 8,5%
Revalver mk III. demo license - 11,5%
Overloud TH1 demo - 8%
Softube amp room (approx.) - around 7-8% (didn't actually try)
Waves GTR Solo - 10%
Simulanalog rig (pedal-amp) + IR - 14%
Guitar rig 4 demo - 40%
Amplitube 2 demo - 70%
And a single patch of Amplitube 3 choked my friend's 2 yrs old iMac
...So I think that the next update should mean more efficiency. Even if they aren't equal level on sound (which I doubt), they worth more for me. I absolutely don't think that Amplitube 2 sounds that much more good to have 5x-6x more requirements with a same architecture. Maybe Amplitube 3 is the king of tone, but that's a no-go if it eats like a pig
What about a version where you have a fixed routing of Stomp -> Amp -> Cab -> DFx, each page with a bypass, with no stereo and other candy. Maybe a tuner.
But, would that lower the CPU?

I like it a lot too, but I wouldn't mind if it had some ducking features.Agreed wrote:The Amplitube Fender Tape Delay is a really nice sounding modulated delay, I use it a lot in AT3, but I'd love to get something more robust.

Might want to check why that chokes an iMac. It is run on Mac Minis older than that (I have) with decent patches. Especially when you are talking about AmpliTube 2, that's a problem. Please contact support.

My friend has AT3, I had an AT2 demo as the newest version does not support machines without SSE2

I don't have an "official" list, but I have to say I most certainly won't be spilling the beans beforehand anywaycliftone wrote:Peter? We are waiting.

This sounds very wrong. I have it running on a 6 year old laptop and it doesn't use near 70% even on complex patches. I think the most complex dual path set ups come in more around 30%. It is one of the most taxing amp sim packages, but you can configure it to use less in a kind of "draft" mode if needed and then crank up the settings when you render your track.rectus_dominus wrote: Amplitube 2 demo - 70%

We are waiting. There's a change coming which will make this all more fluid and give some more flexibility with regard to AmpliTube 3 and from there it will be a nice long, happy road ahead.
Now I'm very anxious to know what is coming up. If you email the details to me I probably want let the cat out of the bag on this forum maybe, cross my fingers. Good to hear from you Peter.

See, that's the thing, really - a natural tape delay, while capable of getting super saturated and overwhelming in a wash, also has a kind of natural ducking effect due to the compression that occurs when you lay the new recording down on top (so to speak). The Watkat freeware plugin gets this right, but it isn't time adjustable (neither was the original - it is a faithful recreation).zerocrossing wrote:I like it a lot too, but I wouldn't mind if it had some ducking features.Agreed wrote:The Amplitube Fender Tape Delay is a really nice sounding modulated delay, I use it a lot in AT3, but I'd love to get something more robust.
But, yeah, in addition to a really accurate tape delay sim, a digital ducking delay would be pretty cool too. With modulation adjustable between multiple parameters maybe.

Yep, very wrong. Be aware that my stuff is 9 years old. I didn't mess around with quality settings. Just tried the latest Revalver beta, it uses 30% on the same route, and 50% on complex patches.zerocrossing wrote:This sounds very wrong. Yeah, I would rather not have to go out and get the Fender pack just for an emulation of Fender's emulation of a tape delay (which is what it is - it's from their digital modeling amplifiers). If it sounds good, that's fine, but I would like having a tape delay in their main program, AT3.Agreed wrote:Amplitube Fender has a pretty good tape delay sim. It's, well, sort of obviously a digital tape delay emulation, but it sounds really good nonetheless... BUT, it would be nice if they'd go hardcore and model an Echoplex or something like that, give the user a lot of control over it. Something like the El Capistan dTape pedal from Strymon, but done IKMM's way.
I love the sound of tape delay, and the Amplitube Fender model gets a lot of the characteristics of it, but compare the accuracy of that to the Amplitube Fender '63 Reverb or the Fender rotary cabinet, and it's pretty clear which ones are hardcore models of gear and the one that is a pretty good stab at a general "tape delay like" sound, if you get what I mean.
The way a tape delay ducks a bit when you play over it, the sort of wash rather than fade, there's just a lot about the sound that is so lovely for guitar. The Amplitube Fender Tape Delay is a really nice sounding modulated delay, I use it a lot in AT3, but I'd love to get something more robust.
Besides the wash, HF roll-off, tape delays also have wow and flutter (pitch modulation), as well as tape saturation on the delay repeats. I love using Line 6's echoplex on a relatively clean sound, but turning up the tape distortion on the delay repeats. Lofi heaven!

But different products, and what zerocrossing was saying was this was wrong for AT2 without comparison to other products but to real-world AT2 performance. Shouldn't take that much, in comparison with real use of AT2 on similar or even lower-end systems. So please do give support a shout if you want to get it working correctly.rectus_dominus wrote:Yep, very wrong. Be aware that my stuff is 9 years old. I didn't mess around with quality settings. I'm typically seeing 3%-6% on Revalver, but I've got a current machine.

On HI quality and all oversampling enabled at 44.1kHz with 512 buffer on my i7 920, I get 10-15% per AmpliTube 3 instance.
