It always seems to take longer than expected but we have finally got the next release into an acceptable shape and is now available to be downloaded

As usual there are the obligatory bug fixes and correction of 'undocumented features' as well as a host of enhancements.

The standout additions are that more detail is extracted from PT5 sessions - some of this detail is not extracted by the likes of ProConvert eg BPM, Beat markers and more .

We also recombine PT split stereo files to a sub folder called (strangely enough) 'Stereo' and of course split stereo files when creating PT5 session files.

We have also added track automation to both import and export of Steinberg track archives

We have also started down the path of collecting plug-in detail eg Plugin details from PT are now added to Reaper notes - we may expand this in the future and we may look at midi as well.

You can now specify a Reaper RPP as a 'template' to be used when converting to Reaper - we may expand this to cover other suitable formats.

We have added more detail to Audition & Vegas conversions and a whole lot more.

Tracktion project files (.tracktion) can now be imported and converted and if demand allows we will look to providing an export function as well.

We can now also read Presonus' version of OpenTL allowing another avenue to transfer sessions to/from Studio One.

The complexity of AATranslator grows daily and it can be easy to 'break' something that was working in a previous release. So let me know if this does happen so we can get it sorted out.

A special thanks to those like Bill Blue & Matt Bentley who have taken the time to assist in various aspects of testing for this release.

As always feel free to contact me for assistance and don't be shy in either suggesting enhancements or recommending AATranslator to others.

Thanks also to the guys at Sony, Presonus, Mackie, Adobe, Cockos & N-Track for their continued support.

Just in case you hadn't heard from somewhere else - we are currently working on translations for PT versions 5.1 to 8.04. We now have no trouble reading all these formats and we are feverishly? working on conversions to all the formats that we currently support.

Watch this space!

Just a quick update:
PT7 conversion is coming along nicely.
Tracks, clips/regions, markers (absolute, range & beat), track automation & fades along with a heap of other details are converting well.

More testing to go before we release it but we will have our next version (v3.4) ready very very shortly.

PT7 conversion is planned for v3.5

Post

We released version 3.4 early this morning and all registered users should have been contacted by now with the location of the download.

There is currently no demo version for this release - the current demo version (v3.3) should be sufficient to determine the value of the application.

We are testing a number of new formats for version 4.0.
PT7 continues to be tested for v4.0 and OMF export functionality draws closer to completion.

Many thanks to those who help with this release - you will never know how much we appreciate it - seriously you will never know ;-)

Any chance for a Mac version? (hopefully not Intel only... still have PPC)

Sorry - been busy and missed this one.

We are looking at it but to be honest our meagre resources would be really stretched and would mean ceasing all work on all current format conversions and probably a rewrite to the PC version.

Hmmm having read what I've written I think I should probably have just said 'no' :-)

Short answer - no not for a while.
========================================

While I'm here - we are looking at adding SAW Studio to our long list of supported formats.

Its getting nearly time for another significant release.

PT7&8 import is looking very solid - I'm sure there are some warts in there but they probably wont surface until after we release (as usual).
OMF should now have track automation (vol & pan) as well as handling wav & aif. Just waiting on fades to be finalised.
Have just started adding routing conversion - eg busses first with AA/CEP & Reaper and then adding others.
And much much more.

Update: We just added ProTools v9 and Samplitude VIP to the formats which AATranslator can read.

Just a quick follow up:-

Version 4.0 at one point was finalised but somehow we just didn't know when to stop adding features and fixing bugs.
Though I suspect that the pain in my head should have given some indication.

Well all this fun must come to an end and somehow get this version out to you so we decided that Xmas eve will be that date!

Even right up to the date we will still be adding features and carrying out testing and yes even updating documentation but no matter what we will get version 4.0 out on Xmas eve.

Version 4.0 contains many small and large improvements but the highlights are:
* Import ProTools session files (ptf) for versions 7, 8 & 9
* Ron Novy's eagerly sought OMF export function now included. AAT will export OMF as either embedded or reference and will cater for both aif & wav media.
* Import Samplitude VIP session files
* Improved fade type conversions across most formats
* We have also added improved conversions between Reaper, Samplitude & Audition. Specifically we now convert routing (bus/aux), clip groups and fade types.
We will add this functionality to other formats in subsequent releases.

Registered users will be contacted on Xmas eve.

Well I did say that we would get this beast out on Xmas eve and while it is 4 hours into my Xmas day its still Xmas eve somewhere in the world and that's my excuse.

Version 4.0 is now available

Merry Xmas

Hi sorry if it has been asked before, but what's the difference between the normal and enhanced versions? It would be nice if there was a chart on your site with the differences.

Both Standard & Enhanced versions are the same for 15 of the 18 Formats AATranslator supports.

The 'standard' version has a sort of demo mode for Pro -Tools (PT5 write & read plus ptf - PT versions 7, 8 & 9 read} & OMF with a limit of 4 tracks, 20 'clips/regions' or 6 audio files. The Enhanced vers has no such limits.

Runaway would know for sure, but I think the standard vers cannot write OMF files, though the Enhanced vers can write both Reference or Embedded OMF's.

The demo is fairly limited in track counts, clips and it doesn't write OMF etc and we have made significant advances/bug fixes etc since version 3.3 (the demo).

If in doubt email us via the web site and we will run whatever conversions you need to satisfy that the product suits your needs.
