thanks again and we just got a new review at
http://cookshop.wordpress.com

"Released only weeks ago as a free download, Swimé is another quiet but intriguing work from this duo who, like others of their generation (e.g. Gultskra Artikler), have gotten so free that they've just left any easy pigeon-holing ("IDM", "neo-classical", or elsesuch) far behind. To anyone with a passing knowledge of the netlabel scene, they've also been among the most prolific Romanian acts to follow, and I should say that this new blend of semi-improvised soundscaping carries itself with a deeply cohesive "wholeness" along the path.

Admittedly, there is not a lot of urgency to these tracks, and the sense of "presence", even at its most acute, can be purposely distorted, but it's precisely these kind of instances that vie for your focus and create a nice tension throughout; a tension which - more often than not - is flirted with, rather than underlined and made blatantly obvious. It's all never in one place for long, yet moves around with hardly any sonic grit; it stands on its own as an evocation of some possible realities of the as of yet… which only the titles may try to elucidate (or maybe the accompanying poem telling a lion tamer's story, who'd suddenly gotten bored of it all?)"

BUMP

I'm listening the album for the third time now and it's getting better every time

"27 seconds on the plank" is a masterpiece
This bass sound coming in the middle of the track is jus killing me

nice! :-)

rich, visceral, unusual sounds and sound combinations. i've never heard anything quite like this before, otoh it sounds familiar. the music is very suggestive of a (visual) storyline, could make an excellent film soundtrack.

thanks Rachmiel. i will quote you :)
some friend classified our music as hauntology.
( i thought we make the reverse of silent movies. :)

Other people about Swimé:

Eerie, atmospheric, intriguing. A very good background for thinking.

Only one word: SPLENDID! Musique experimentale de haute qualité. Musique libre et propice à l'imagination. Public cible : renégats, qui n'aiment ni les bergers ni les troupeaux...
(Rajsank @ Yamanotedreams)

Swime is an album for people with active imagination.
Lock yourself in a room, put the album on, close your eyes and let Makunouchi Bento's music guide you in the mental creation of an unwritten film about childhood in the heart of the Balkans; a childhood full of exciting camping trips, folk m...usic, 80s synth hits, animals, fears, curiosity, vaguely-understandable adult conversations and their arguments.
Written over two years, this ambient masterpiece must be listened as a whole. There are no driving beats or pop hooks: just proto-melodies combined with broken jazz loops and field samples, all carefully put together to paint the moving pictures of a time gone by. But this is not just a nostalgia trip. Swime is self-analytical; through humour, noise and eerie ambience, it asks the question: "How did I become the person I am today?
(Igor Olejar / Autorotation)

I haven't heard all of your music yet, but I can tell you that it is quite an adventure!
Music to get visions by. Haunting, comforting, scary, relaxing,... I like it!
(Pietteke)

Listened to it yesterday and man, it's really as strange as you told me it to be but in a good way! Very, very good stuff!
(Ronny Pries)

First, I was lost in the Jungle of Erratic Tabla.
Then I stepped into the Clearing of the Accordion Pond.
I stepped on a cat,
and after that, I don't remember much except clocks chasing me, a handful of change falling on a milk bar, a harp that electro-shocked me when I tried to play it, whispering meerkats stretching me out on a rack, and as all the bees played their trumpets, the Local 4715 Clapper's Union and Electric Piano Juggernaut Machine chopped down the last tree in the forest onto my head.
It's a real feast of sound. Not exactly something I can dance to, but I'm a pretty bad dancer anyway. Thanks for sharing.
