I just noticed that sakura has a load of extra presets "online" but how do you download them? I tried clicking on one and it brought up a download manager app but it still doesn't load the patch and I don't want to have to dl them one by one anyway - it would take ages

First, you won't have to download them one by one. The presets are grouped together in categories and each category is downloaded as a whole when you choose to download one item.
As for the fact that it doesn't download: what exactly happens in the download manager when you try to download something?

It's OK I was trying to download the whole banks but nothing was happening - I didn't realise clicking on a single item would download the whole bankreflex wrote:First, you won't have to download them one by one. The bank manager is a bit annoying generally. I would prefer to drop down with menus than a separate window that appears when you double click on the preset list - especially since it doesn't allow you to access the plugin interface so you can't even use it as a browser, having it open at the side while you check out presets. Navigation is slow due to this.

The content library will be rewritten to be more user friendly once I have time to do so.

They started this with the downloadable banks with BioHazard IIRC. Good idea, but poor execution.
Even more of a puzzler is the fact that, unless you're dealing with sample data (which most of the IL synths are not), PATCH data size is so small as to be negligible. So why not just include it in the synth download or updated downloads?

This way we can add more presets later on without requiring users to reinstall the plugin.BERFAB wrote:Even more of a puzzler is the fact that, unless you're dealing with sample data (which most of the IL synths are not), PATCH data size is so small as to be negligible. Can you download banks for the demo version of Sakura?
I was hoping to pick it up at the yard sale, but I may need to wait and buy later at full price.

I'm aware of that. However, the early editions of BIO IIII (I think) required a separate patch download following the initial synth install, forcing you to get the factory banks rather haphazardly, IIRC.reflex wrote:This way we can add more presets later on without requiring users to reinstall the plugin.BERFAB wrote:Even more of a puzzler is the fact that, unless you're dealing with sample data (which most of the IL synths are not), PATCH data size is so small as to be negligible. In any event, it might be easier just to post updated patch banks to user accounts, just like the installers. I know it's kind of cool to have a download to the actual instrument, but if that method is unreliable, the cool factor goes right down the tubes.
Just a suggestion. I've always thought the IL stuff was the coolest looking and most fun to use of any line of plugs out there (and I own a lot of 'em). The patch thing, to me, is a very minor issue.
Cheers

Don't worry, it'll be a lot more useful and pleasant to use after the rewrite.

Is there a way to download the extra patches using a computer other than the one on which you have FL Studio and the plugins installed? My DAW doesn't have internet access.
A well-behaved signature.

You can install the download manager on the online computer. The installer is in the description of the "Content Library" product in your user account on the IL website.
Then open IL Download Manager and show the content library window from the Options menu.
Then copy the files from the online computer to the appropriate places on the music computer (for most plugins this is a subfolder of the plugin's folder in c:\Program Files\Image-Line).

I guess the answer to my question is no.

There are no banks that can be downloaded for the demo version of Sakura that aren't already included in the installer, unless I'm mistaken.Musical Gym wrote:Can you download banks for the demo version of Sakura?
