I have a really gorgeous-sounding nylon guitar waiting to be sampled, so I imagine it will be the second library in the Evolution Acoustic Guitar series.

About the jazz guitar--would you prefer a hollowbody jazz guitar, or more of a modern solidbody one?
I was thinking along the lines of a Gibson ES-175. But off course any other model would be a lovely addition too. Will you be making bundle deals for this Evolution series?

Definitely! Eastman also makes terrific jazz guitars that'd be great to sample.

Yeah, the idea is that later on there'll be bundle deals for different electric and acoustic guitars in the Evolution series.

I'm excited, so I have to share this. I just got the new chord detection system working for the update. You no longer have to anticipate the chord changes, because fretting chords is now instantaneous--unrealistically, but it should make it more playable and intuitive than before.

So your strumming pattern sequences can now look like this, with the chords and strums happening at the same time, on the downbeat:

Great!! I understand why the original was programmed the way it was but at the end of the day I wanted the chords to start on the downbeat and being a keyboard player found it a little unnatural to have to play the chord a 16th before I wanted it to play.

Really looking forward to checking this update!

I'll move the strum keys to the other side of the mapping, though--thanks for pointing that out.
I'm right-handed, and it seems more natural to me to finger the chords with my right hand and strum with my left. Then again, I do a lot of things like left-handed people; I guess I'm fairly ambidextrous. It doesn't matter to me which side the strum keys are on though, I'm comfortable going either way.

I'm also right-handed and for me it always made sense to finger chords with your left hand and strum with your right since it mirrors how I play a real guitar (left hand on the fret board, right hand strumming the strings).

Optionally I hope... My right hand on Keyboard is better than my left for chords :-) Unlike my main instrument, the guitar, in which my left hand makes the chords. I think for me chords feel better on right on the piano thus I treat the left strumming notes like a bass pattern

Or maybe I am just confused tonight (ruff week).

Great stuff Greg!

Paul, I don't think you're confused. For a lot of right-handed keyboard players, this is indeed the case. Like you and most righties, it's easiest for me to play chords with my right hand and do bass notes or, in this case, strumming keys with my left hand. I can easily play simple progressions and arpeggios with my left hand, but I'm not so good at anything tricky with it (e.g., complex chords/complex chord progressions or arpeggios, complex riffs, etc.).

Dang, I love the idea with the Velocities, that's also how I've been setting EEG up!

All this talk about the future of evolution, let's make sure we don't forget about a guitar meant for metal... =P

and a drumkit, eh?

Mmm, metal...

Seriously, something that would be nice is the amp sim presets used in the demos on the website.

That's it exactly! For years, I was chording with my right hand and playing bass with my left when our bass player was off (we were doing a show in a well-known sea life theme park 7 days a week). The odd thing is, when I first learned organ, I was chording with my left, playing melody with my right, and playing bass with my feet.

No matter which side you put the strum keys on, though, I don't think I'll be playing them with my feet.

Since everyone seems to have his or her own preference, let me just add that to me, it feels most natural to chord with my left hand and strum with my more nimble right hand (I'm right-handed, btw).

Ideally, but perhaps too complicated to implement, the strumming keys could be doubled for either right or left hand use. I seem to remember that there are some guitar VI:s that are set up like that.

Best,

Joachim
If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Ahh, that's a good idea, Joachim! I'll just double the strumming keys on either side of the chord detection range--that way you don't have to set preferences as to whether you want to play it left-handed or right-handed. It's actually pretty simple to script it to play this way.
