This thread is for feedback about our documentation, manuals. We're not going to release frequent updates from manuals (;-)) but will consider all feedback seriously for new manuals as we start them with new products or new product versions.

We will not respond to every posting but we definitely check back here frequently.

Thanks in advance :-)

CronoX User Guide

p. 10 - In the signal-flow diagram, filters are both labelled "1" (should be 1 above, 2 below); the first two (parallel) effects are both labelled "2" (should be 1 above, 2 below)

p. 26-27 - The AM and FM routings are described backwards (Gen2 is modulated by Gen1, and Gen4 is modulated by Gen3 -- the manual says the opposite)

Time Sampler description - the Loop button (L) isn't documented

Schrader description
- this is just a picky detail, but since the Start value needs to be at least one less than the End value, these parameters don't exactly range from 0 to 100. (Start ranges from 0 to 99, End ranges from 1 to 100, and only combinations in which End > Start are "legal").
- The Speed parameter has a lower limit of 0.00, not 0.01 (and thank goodness, setting it zero and then modulating Loop Start is one of the coolest things to do in CronoX!)

Loop Sampler description - maybe explain more clearly what happens when key ranges overlap. If sample1 has key range C-2 to F4, and sample2 has key range C3 to G8, then is the balance between sample1 and sample2 constant over the range C3 to F4, or is it weighted more towards sample1 at the bottom and sample2 at the top? (I suppose if I cared more about the answer I could try it and see :hihi: )

p. 53 - in the Parametric EQ description, it might be good to mention that the "Wet" slider has no effect since EQ is inserted directly into the main signal path (the manual mentions this elsewhere, but this is the page users will turn to first if they're puzzled by the behavior of this slider)

Mod Destinations description
- the entry for AuxMod Gen 1, 2, 3, 4 lists "Generator: Pulsewidth". This should be "Oscillator: Pulsewidth" (or "Oscillator: Symmetry")
- the entry for Loop Start 1, 2 states that this destination is only available for the Loop Sampler type of Generator. In fact, Modulating Loop Start is an effective technique with the Schrader type as well (if this is an accident rather than a feature, please keep it!). Related small question: This Mod Destination makes the AuxMod feature for the Loop Sampler type redundant -- they're just two equivalent ways to modulate Loop Start; so is there any chance you could change the AuxMod feature for the Loop Sampler to control the amount of Smoothing? Nothing lost, something gained.

I am an Albino3 user and just bought Cronox3 and Alpha 3 (for the holiday 2008 offer). I would like to give you the feedback that I really like the fact that you provide such detailed manuals for your products. Many popular plugins do not have good manuals that I can read using Acrobat or print to study at my leisure, and I personally find that having a well-written and technically informative manual is very helpful and desirable. I guess I am an old-fashioned engineer at heart (EE by profession) who likes to read his manuals. I have purchased a significant library of commercial plugins over the years, and I can honestly say that in most cases after a year or two of ownership I tend to stick with the ones that have good, detailed manuals. So please keep up the support in this way.

If I find any inconsistencies or issues with the Cronox3 or Alpha 3 manuals as I am going through them, I will let you know in a PM.

Cheers!

Hi,

some things I found in RMV Manual 503.pdf:

Footer on each page says "Reference Manual 5.0.1", should be "Reference Manual 5.0.3".

P69ff - Loop Section / Slice Display: The buttons "edit all" and "display mode" are not shown in the manual hardcopies and are not described in the text. What does they do?

P71, "D:" (Drag control description): A hint would be useful that the destination of the "dragging" in the host software should be a "real" MIDI track. When in Cubase the destination track has a drum map assigned, the MIDI-loop-triggering does not work correctly, since Cubase is re-assigning the MIDI notes according to the drum map.

P147, "Appendix D: RMV to Host Syncronization": There are some large gaps after "Position of the H Host Sync switch for the MIDI Grooves" and "Position of the H Host Sync switch for the Audio Loops". Are there some screenshots missing?

P154, Index still refers to "Syncrosoft Licensing 11" which is gone - seems you haven't rebuilt the index page.

You are offering German manuals for most of your products. Are there any plans for a German RM V manual? Would be really appreciated!

Michael
Someday I'll look back on all this and laugh... until they sedate me.

I just wanted to chime in an assure you that there are those of us who take into consideration the quality of a products documentation !!!!!!
My wife is in software and says it is something that tends to get little attention (manual writting )... I was telling her the other day about how paltry the contents are sometimes and that I have some manuals that are from stuff I don't own ( but would like to $) and I read them because they have good explainations of details and processes that I can apply elsewhere.

Definatly a good Idea to have quality in all facets of your products ( as you do !!)

Thanks, good to hear (as I just rewrite small parts of the RMV manual today :-))

"Where is the manual for Albino? I don't see it anywhere on the website or in the installation directory."
It's in the same place as where you download the plug-in. Look under where it says "Full install/update" next to the thumbnail image of the synth.
