There is simply too much gear released in too short intervals taken too few care of detail. Many is full of flaws or bugs from the beginning and using it is a compromise as the other would be making no music any more.

Another point is too much flexibility which ends up with less stable setups and more difficult to handle systems. When you just want to play keyboard with great sound you get lost quickly - what you get instead is ton's of "tools" for professional mastering, professional mixing, professional recording, ton's of virtual synths, elephants of sampling libs far to slow for live use, ...or controllers with dynamic mapping where you never know which knob is doing what - and the simple idea labeling controls dynamically turns out as a complicated expensive adventure. Don't tell me Novation is doing that, they even manage to map the labels dynamically to save displays...

I think one big today's disappointment is too much flexibility done with too primitive tools too hard to use and set up. Maybe it's a vision to huge for even the big manufacturers to accomplish for prices people can afford.

So we are trapped in compromising disappointment...
