They didn't ask that third party content be excluded, only their factory content - i.e. the stuff the comes with their VSTi. Which is stupid on thier part since you can't use the VST in Zen without owning the VST, and if you own the VST you already have the factory content - I don't get their idiocity, maybe they didn't understand the concept . . . maybe I don'taMUSEd wrote:I'm wondering about this. Is it just that they don't want competition for Kore or more that they may be concerned about the security of their content? What would happen for example, if a person had a bunch of presets for say Absynth that they had downloaded from the net? (illegally or otherwise) I would assume Zen would have no way of knowing if they were legitimately owned by the person or not and could potentially add these to the database?Big Tick wrote:All synths in the current list were requested by users. As for NI stuff, as I said, NI didn't give me permission to include their factory content in Zen, since they see this as competing with Kore.seems small and has some curious synths...i know its new, and you hope to ad ALL synths, but i was expecting to see names like Alchemy,Omnisphere, NI stuff, Albino etc from the off....?

Well, they can't forbid 3rd party content to be uploaded. But they own the factory content, so their approval is needed, and as they say:
Good news regarding Discovery, though - George just confirmed it's ok to tag and share the 40 banks that come with the synth
So in their mind, it's only about Zen potentially shadowing Kore. Maybe they'll like the idea and implement online features in their next version.... Anyway, at this stage the best thing to do is to release Zen, and hopefully the collective voice of users will be heard !NI Legal wrote:As you are obviously already aware such an application, as planned by you, might interfere with some of the products we already have in the market. Therefore, we hope you understand, we are at this point of time not able to support you and your project.

Thanks for the fast work; sorry if my following question was mentioned before; why can't banks for registered users be uploaded to zen?Big Tick wrote:Discovery and Discovery Pro are now supported, but keep in mind that because some of these banks are for registered users only, they can't be uploaded in Zen.sunhome wrote:Any chance getting discoDSP Discovery onboard? 40 banks of presets and a bit of organization of the banks would be helpful.

They can't be uploaded without agreement from the vsti maker. In this case George just gave his agreement, so no problem there.sunhome wrote:Thanks for the fast work; sorry if my following question was mentioned before; why can't banks for registered users be uploaded to zen?

Thanks to all the beta testers !
If you don't want to reinstall from scratch, just install the very latest beta update - it is the same than the public version.

Kudos to you, downloading now/done and one issue on install ....
it's not clear from the installer if this should be installed in the vst folder? I did install in my vst folder. Where's the ideal place to install?
Regards, James

You can install it anywhere you want - just copy zen.dll into your vst folder afterwards.

Ok, I just enabled three synths but the plugin column shows 0 for all three.
[Not picking on you as have been curious about this project since it was announced.]

The first time you try to load a preset for this plugin, it will ask for the location of the dll.swampmonster50 wrote:thanks... how do i point zen at my plugins folder?, or do we have to manually find each plugin?

At the moment, the quickstart page is the closest to a doc - it should be enough to get most people started

i have several folders, and they have several inside those...how does zen cope with that? do i need to copy the dll to every folder?the Zen VST plugin. Move this file into your VST plugins folder.
